What to do with Lehky ? If he asks 2.3M+ we trade is RFA right ? Do we buyout Byron and resign Lehky ? We have RHP & Teasdale who are close to be NHL ready for a 4th line role ?
IMO we shouldn’t have signed Hoffman

Hoffman can be moved if necessary. Zero « No Trade » protection.
Habs can keep everyone though. LTIR is our friend.

I would buyout Byron if Hoffman have a good year with us
With buying out Byron, we have enough money to sign Lehky long terms (I don’t know how much he would get long terms). He would play 4LW next year and the year after, Drouin comes off the book, so move up Hoffman 2LW and Lehky 3LW and use RHP or Teasdale 4LW. With Chiarot Drouin Allen off the book, we have enough money to bridge Caufield

I agree we keep Lehkonen over Byron, but we should be able to keep both. Chiarot and Allen both stay. Time will tell for Drouin.

I think for sure Byron is gone, but Lehkonen might stay

    Same conclusion here

I didnt like Hoffman signing from day one. We basically pay 4.5m x 3 years for someone to take one-timers in PP on the right side. Lot of money for such a precise role.

Yes MTL lack a good left-handed one timer but it didnt have to be him

Chiarot isn’t getting extended and the year after Allen Drouin comes off the book (Chiarot Kulak is after this year). Primeau will be ready and our Top 9 should be Suzuki Caufield Toffoli Anderson Gallagher Hoffman Dvorak Evans Lehkonen/Armia

Good value at that cap hit. One of the best in the league at that specific role.

Dump Byron if you can. With only one year left and the cap going up (rumor of 1M) it shouldn’t be hard.

If not, trade Lehkonen's rights for a 3/4th center.

He may not have value on Capfriendly, but he does have value for NHL GMs.

Or keep them both and trade away Drouin. That's what I would do but I know it's not a popular take.

A Byron's buyout is useless. If you consider the cost (1.5M caphit) and the replacement player (a rookie @ 900k), you barely save 1 million...
