Oilers wouldn't be giving a 1st and a 2nd with no retention or cap going the other way. Can't fit him under the cap and would be short on assets to use to make space.

Still not worth it for 1 year only. Holland would prefer to go out and sign MAF to a 2 or 3 year contract and keep his 1st. If this was a deadline deal (this season) they might be able to squeeze a 1st out of Edmonton, but there's no way NYI will be selling at the deadline.

Somehow you get half of the assets you traded for Dahlin from Varlamov, which just shows how bad the offer for Dahlin is!

I suppose if the Sabres thought Power could step up and take over the #1 LHD spot and they could compete this year by filling in a couple of missing pieces, they may accept:
Wahlstrom, Oliver
Dobson, Noah
Komarov, Leo
Varlamov, Semyon
They fill the gapping holes are RW, RHD, and GK.

Bellows, and Salo, do not fit into the present nor future Sabre plans.

Unfortunately the Sabres are more than three players away from the playoffs, so it is a big no.
