Why does Chicago do this honestly? In other words, what gaps does this fill for Chicago?

chicago’s got to move out money and has no place in the lineup for connolly and barely a place in the lineup for strome.

Chicago is fine against the cap. Connolly was put in the AHL because younger players have outplayed him. That said, whether Chicago has a place in the lineup or not for Strome doesn't answer the question; why would Chicago give up Strome for Eakin, an AHL D man and a 4th? What hole does Eakin fill that isn't already filled let alone Strome being a better player?

Wait, have the Sabres completely given up on Victor Olofsson?
78 points in 116 games seems like it would get more than 4 points in 20 games + 4th round pick.

Olofsson is good on the power play. He has struggled on even strength goals. I think Olofsson will have his best season yet in point production.

Fair, but I'd still think the 4th should probably be upgraded to a 2nd especially if the Sabres are in no hurry to sell him.
