Man that lineup looks really bad without MacKinnon, I would imagine Landy slides over to 1C until Nate returns.

No, and Mack might only miss 1 game, they arent doing anything werid like making Landeskog a centre for 1 gme when he has never played that position ever in his career at the NHL level

Landy never plays C. He takes draws, which leads to folks thinking he does (and the LW/C classification on this site), but that's it. In a real pinch, Rantanen would actually get the call before Landeskog.

Unfortunately, it appears JT freaking Compher will be playing 2C. I guess they figure the 200th time is the charm as it relates to forcing Compher into a top 6 role. Smh.

My bad I thought he was the 1C before Mackinnon came into the league, either way they have to replace Nate for at least a game and hopefully not with Kadri as he simply is not the guy to play there especially for an extended period of time.

Ok makes sense, I thought I had seen him play center before Nate came into the league but perhaps not lol. I am still waiting for Montreal to try Drouin back at C LMAO sometimes it seems like the coaches think they can force something another coach tried and get better results LOL.

nah, he was always a LW. The line was Landeskog Stastny Mackinnon on RW when Mack game into the league as a rookie.
Kadri is fine filing in, he has done it in the past so I dont see the hate of him there and saying hes not the guy. He has done it before and it had good results doing so

I know Kadri has the skill but the issue for me is the discipline to play top line on a nightly basis long term.

people hate on kadri way too much, he really doesn't have discipline issues like that, yes he has got into suspension issues in the playoffs, but in 2 seasons with the Avs, in the regular season and in his first year of the playoffs with him, then has been next to nothing in terms of discipline issues. He isnt the loose cannon that people exaggerate him to be.

1...maybe 2 games of him there to start the season isnt going to be starting avs fans to clutch their pearls

I think Landy is capable of filling in for a game or two if needed. His game is suited for it, which may be why many think he plays there.

I do agree with you that Kadri isn't the ideal guy there. If it were me (and I understand this is a bit crazy), I'd throw Newhook in there and see what he can do between two really good wingers. At best he does well and gives Bednar some options for the future. At worst he moves down after a couple games, which is what will happen anyway. No pressure. And it allows for a little continuity on the second line, which I think could be important. Bednar didn't ask my opinion this time around though, lol.

No I agree one or two games is nothing but IF Nate is out for 2 weeks as has been the standard for quarantining then having Kadri there is IMO too much of a risk. Maybe he learnt his lesson in terms of Discipline but he was a "loose cannon" his whole time in Toronto, he has too many suspensions to consider him a disciplined player.

While playing for the Maple Leafs, Kadri was suspended three games for interference (November 2013), four for an illegal check to the head (March 2015), four for cross-checking (April 2016), three for boarding (April 2018 playoffs) and five for a cross-check (April 2019).

That simply doesn't come off like a model player.

im not saying you overlook his precious history, im saying he has done enough in Colorado to earn that trust, yes he had a dumb suspension in the playoffs bc of a selfish hit, he didn't have to try to hit faulk there to separate him from the puck..but he did what he did

What he did with the leafs is just that, that is him on the leafs. In colorado he hasnt been a guy you need to be worried about night in and night out. He still plays with an edge but the dumb stuff really has taken a back seat while here.

Hopefully it stays out of his game cause that is really the only issue I had with him, I like his skill and tenacity it reminds me a bit of Gallagher.

Bednar has a good repour with him and with landeskog as the leader of that group, he seems to have a good support network to keep things in check. That pressure in TO really got to him and Something has to be said about him becoming a father, he said it really changed his perspectives of thing, he just had child when he moved to Colorado as well. Not shocking to see a calmer approach hit the ice as well as soon as he hd a major change in his personal life
