I still don't understand why all you COL fans think you need Patrick. That defense is horrendous. I'd be taking best available defender for the next two or three drafts. Jost, Duchene, Rantanen, Landy, & MacKinnon is solid upfront. You don't need a Patrick. They need defenders IMO - especially if you traded for Drouin. You'd have a top 6 set in stone for the next 8 years so why waste that valuable pick on a guy at positions you don't need? It doesn't make sense...

You're over paying Drouin, No way does Drouin make 6 years at $6.3 million per. At the very most maybe Drouin gets 5 years at $4.75 million per but that's about it.

Its not about picking the best position of need. Its about picking the player with the best value. Even if they were to trade that player a year later based off of today's ranking, who'd be worth more in trade? Patrick or Liljegren? Patrick I would think. What they should do is trade down! With maybe Vegas to be better suited to pick Liljegren and something else while Vegas gets their big name center to promote the team.

Agree so much, if COL gets a top pick, go with Liljegren, or if you get #1 trade down to 2/3 and get an additional asset.
What happens if you get Liljegren this year and Rasmus Dahlin next year? Now all of a sudden you have a top blueline to help protect the net and dish pucks out to MacKinnon

Pretty sure Stone and Bonino would be going for the most money if they signed with a bad team like Colorado, but you signed them to like the minimal deal they would be offered. Please be more realistic and either pony up a top offer, or realize your team will not be signing impact players. Also I don't understand why your team would trade a top 4 dman for a forward. When Landeskog was rumored to Boston the return Sakic wanted was a young top end defenseman among other things.

Easy answer, because Nolan Patrick or nico hischer are the two BEST players in the draft. You take one of them if you can. I'm not saying avs shouldn't take a defence, they should and mostly will. If duchene and or Landy is traded which I expect to happen, we will get another first and draft one. There are a few gems in the draft for defense. And yes if we get a top 3 picks in 2018 we will draft a defensemen, who right now, are better than the top 5 defenseman in this draft.

The barrie for drouin trade is what I think will happen and the dollar amount is fair. Why would he take less? I think he will demand at least 6.

Blueline looks like trash. Sign some more UFA's to shore that up
