I doubt strome steps into a top 6 role at least not right away hed look good on that third lines tho but he doesn’t strike me like a Boston type of player

to further expand, studnicka has the ceiling that strome has right now. There currently isnt room on the roster to fit studnicka, they want to try coyle out at 2c and see if he can be that player. If not I highly expect studnicka to get a real look in that role too.

He could step into a top 6 role right away imo as a die hard hawks fan. Strome has honestly been decent for us. I'm puzzled as to why colliton doesn't like him so much

i just dont see the upgrade from coyle to pay a 2nd and a young nhl ready center too.

i don’t think strome has the kind of value that yields studnicka and a second. definitely feels like an overpay to me.

depends how you value studenicka I guess. Not a Boston fan obviously so I wouldn't have as good of an idea on that as you would. I do think Strome can still be a top 6 player in the NHL. The hawks have just decided for whatever reason to not give him that chance. Boston could probably get away with dropping the 4th from our side and replacing studenika without something else small to the hawks side. It all depends on what strome's market is. Hawks have done a lot to tank his value the last 18 months. I wouldn't be suprised at all to see him be a consistent 50 point guy if given the opportunity

I just don't think this trade makes much sense for BOS. I dont think the value is crazy off (although i dont think BOS is parting with Studnicka for Strome) i just think from BOS perspective - Strome in the present isn't that much of an upgrade from Coyle, Haula and DeBrusk looked really good together, and Studnicka looked the part all of camp and pre-season and my guess is that he finishes the year in Boston. To be honest, barring any major injuries i think they will target defensemen at the deadline. The only way they look for a 2C is if he is a clear upgrade (ex: Hertl)

im not devaluing strome. I just think that if coyle stays 2c all year he ends up around where strome would have been in boston. so theres not much need to go out and trade a 2nd and a prospect the bruins are high on for a minimal upgrade

They need to address the D if they do anything.
