Would Chicago send Strome down if he didn’t need waivers? Just trying to get a CHI perspective since we’ve hashed out value a bunch already.

Disagree. I don’t think Strome has near the same value as Greener even if Strome would be more productive to the Wild. I also say this wishing they had moved on Strome last year and through the summer.

no. Strome is solid. He's played decently well for us in his time here. It honestly puzzles me as to why Colliton doesn't like him so much. A lot of it has to do with all the centers we have brought in, but even then Strome should be in this lineup (probably on our third line). The problem is he is way more effective at center than he is on the wing, and like I said we have a lot of centers

Agree with all that about usage and ability.

Next year strome would be at best 3 or 4 c , or as early as mid-season on wild with Joel Eriksson ek 1c, Marco Rossi 2c, nico sturm 3-4c, .. then Marat k is coming over, and Minnesota would be better trading for Tomas h, or pursuing him in free agency. Greenway is respectively worth more now than strome

Did you notice the 5th that comes with Strome? The difference between both players isn't that significant. Both teams are getting what they want in this trade. Chicago is getting the big bodied powerforward that they've been wanting plus a rather crucial $900k in much needed cap space, which is currently at a grand total of $0.

Meanwhile the Wild get Fiala his much needed real deal center.

I would honestly be willing to trade Greenway strait up for Strome as it stands right now. But I'm not going to say no to a extra pick on top of it. I have faith that Brackett can do something good with it.

If Rossi comes up during the season it only means two of Gaudreau, Hartman, Sturm are pushed back onto the wing if Strome is on the roster. That means better center depth than this team has had in years and it could make a legitimate playoff push.

I agree with all of that, specifically that Strome could put up 60 next to Fiala. I have my doubts Evason would actually play Strome with Fiala though, something just seems off and they want to put him on an island.

So yeah, the values are the same but I would rather have the (better) pick and prospect Greener could get. I think it’s just a preference thing we differ on.

Johnson on that top line is interesting because Kane really just needs to win possession to be effective imo. The thing I’m leary of is JC’s system and zone entries negating that. Kane is going to use Seth Jones a lot this year. If not it’ll be Murphy bailing this line out ALOT.
