To be honest, I haven't seen him play.

But how bad must he be to be let go by Detroit?

Whatever Yzerman didn't like about him would make me stay very far from him.

Signed to a AHL contract with an invite to main camp. Had a really good training camp which earned him a 2 way contract. Steal of a contract for the Jets with the potential to help out there bottom 6 for the next few years.

Injuries derailed his progression, I don’t think Yzernan saw anything from him to project as a top 6 forward or a bottom six with a roll to play; ie. pp, pk, faceoffs... so basically as just forward depth, yzerman let him walk to see what other opportunities are out there.
He’ll prob add 5/10 goals a year for ya as a 3rd/4th line winger at 5v5.

If you use the word steal to often it doesn't mean anything anymore.

The guy was on waivers twice last year. Signing him can't be a steal if nobody else want him🙄

Sorry but this isn't a valid reason to not qualify your first rounders. When Erne is your 3rd RW, you want all the depth you can get... Unless he is THAT bad.

Well I guess he has to have a season to prove to guys like you that letting him go for nothing was a mistake.

He’s still got some potential, and actually played pretty well in his call up last year for Detroit. Definitely adds something to the Jets’ bottom 6.

A blessing for Jordan Martinook, as he doesn't have to do double the normal amount of screaming.

Yeah Jets just signed him to an AHL contract at first as well
Which has 0 risk for a former 1st rounder

Other teams offered him a chance as well but apparently the Jets left a real good impression on him at his draft year

And he showed up at camp showing real upside which lead to the NHL contract

As for why Yzerman let him go, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t have potential to be an NHL player.. just means he needed a change of scenery to get his career back on track and the Wings respected that…. Like the Jets with Sami Niku

I remember after his brother got KOd by Ovie, he wanted to kick Ovie's ass lol.

He's more feisty than Andrei, taking on bigger guys like Dalton Prout and Jimmy Oligny in the minors.

He should've made the team after his first season in the AHL, he had 20 goals and 51 points. In the 2017-18 preseason he looked really good but Holland sent him back down. In GR that year he had 7g and 23 points. When it finally looked like he was going to get a shot he blows out his knee. Through it all he never let it get him down he was always positive. Thats why I hope he does well no matter what team he plays for.

Right on! He will only be with the Jets for 1 season and either get a higher pay day from another team that the Jets can't afford or most likely go to the KHL for higher pay. Trade him to the Kracken and a low pick for Appleton. Losing Appleton is a huger whole than people think this year. Based on the first couple games, you can tell the lack of forward depth is gonna hurt them.

So far so good for him in Winnipeg

The Connor-PLD-Svechnikov line looks pretty good
