    Not that I wouldn't love seeing Phil regularly playing.

    This is a massive overpayment for both Kessel and the retained salary.

    Why would ARI not retain the salary? I'm sure they'll retain 50% easily. Your team is above the cap anyway...

    2.5 million for a late second?- seems pretty fair to me. Not a lot of teams selling cap space.

    And that was also a massive overpayment. But Foligno’s value went up because of his grit and leadership, which is the complete opposite of Kessel.

    Plus the “handful of games” vs. the whole season has no effect on Toronto. The playoffs are the only thing that matters, so it doesn’t matter if you don’t add a guy till the deadline as long as you get in.
