Tippett is trying the Tampa / Colorado method of loading up the first line. We'll see how long it lasts.

Prolly not very long. Beyond that first line there rlly isn’t anything. It’s just a bunch of third lines

They are seriously putting Drysaddle with McJesus... AGAIN? And they wonder why they have "no depth"??? What a joke.

It has to end with everyone calling Drysaddle a top center in the league. He's just got to be officially a winger at this point.

... and then cry about "no depth" later ...

It's just sad. The other teams mentioned (COL/TBL) have considerable depth on their other lines. COL lost some of that this year, but speaking more to last year

He spent about 1/3 of his time with McDavid last year, I don't think we'll see more than that this year.

Not sure I'd call Hyman - Nuge - Yamamoto a 3rd line, but clearly you're commenting from an area of extreme bias.

Its at the very best, a very weak 2nd line. No depth once again

Pretty sure this is Tippets version of no one scores enough after McDavid so we may as well try to let him get Draisaitl 120 points and hope to outscore teams on their shoulders alone. Its been proven the offence is pretty non existent beyond the PP and McDavid's line.

... unless Draisaitl has his own line, which is what should be happening. He posted a 57.89 GF% without McDavid last season, 66.00% with.

McDavid will get to 120 points whether he's with Draisaitl or Hyman, so that's not it.

Draisaitl wouldn't get 82 if McDavid got hurt. He's a beast when he's with McDavid, he's pretty good without him. He shouldn't ever be considered a top 10 centre.

When McD went down with an injury during Drai's Hart season, over the 6 games McDavid was out I believe Drai had 12 points. The guy can absolutely drive his own line.

It's going to be back and forth all season whether they're together or apart. I think with Vancouver's potential weakness (not a whole lot different from Edmonton) being the D, they're going to load them up and assume Vancouver doesn't have an answer. Against teams with a true top D pair (think Pietrangelo/Theodore), split them up and make them pick their poison and likely let Drai's line take on depth defenseman.

That is 6 games, give it a whole season. Leave it to someone on cap friendly to use a small sample size as the end all and be all

Leave it to someone on cap friendly to bring up a topic and when provided with statistics to dispute it without any statistics or back-up of their own. McDavid has only missed 10 games since his rookie year, can only work with the data that is out there.

Was bored so did a bit of research on this... McDavid has missed 11 games in his last 3 seasons. In those 11 games, Drai has scored 18 points for a P/GP of 1.6. His full average over the last 3 seasons is 299P in 209GP for a P/GP of 1.4. I doubt he would continue to outscore his average without McDavid but still safe to say he is still likely to be a point per game producer without McDavid.

Hyman plays the same way no matter who else is on the ice.

The reality is, the majority of his points come with McDavid on the ice. This has never changed. And the only thing you guys hang your hat on is the 6 games where he scored 12 points. That's it. His entire career doesn't matter just those 6 games.

That is correct, however, he is a 30 point player max away from Matthews or JT. If he doesn't play with McDavid his signing is going to look pretty awful very quickly.

11 games is a very small sample size
