Assuming you're talking about development of prospects in the last 5 years (since the Rangers rebuild began) - Mikheyev, Liljegren, Bracco, Johnsson, Kapanen, and Gauthier would all like to have a word with you.

No thanks from the Leafs. Besides what will LAF cost in his RFA.

Which one of those was a top 10 pick?

Mikheyev was never gonna be a star, Liljegren is getting minutes this year, Bracco you can make a case for, Johnsson excelled in Toronto but had to be traded bc of his contract, Kappy is one of the best players on the Pens. Only 2 of these guys are first round picks. NYR had/currently has Laf, Kakko, Andersson, Kravtsov, etc who were all high picks and hasn't lived up to their potential

Mikheyev was a signed at age 24 and immediately made the NHL roster. Not sure what that has to do with prospect development
Johnsson going from a 7th rounder to a half a point per game NHLer with the leafs is not a sign of bad prospect development lol
Kapanen was a success for TOR - they got him after his D+1 year and turned him into a useful NHLer
Liljegren, Gauthier, and Bracco are the only ones where the Leafs can really be blamed for poor development (and Liljegren still has time to become a useful NHLer)

You can add Dermott, Sandin, Robertson to that list as well. Pretty sure Fox, Miller, Chytil, kreider, shesty, Buch have been developed in an excellent way. Laf and Kakko played minimal minutes on a 3rd line up until now and shortened seasons so your jumping the gun since they actually play well but haven’t been getting the 1PP time for scoring. You can also add strome, Zibby and bread to that list since they all have hit new heights since coming to NYR.. Lias who throws away silver medals couldn’t be developed, Kravs is heading in the wrong direction as well but has the potential. Nils is coming along just fine.

Putting panarin and strome in a discussion about rangers prospect development is criminal.

Panarin yes… Strome not so much, even the last 3 seasons he’s been called a nobody by everyone and yet he still produces at the same level without bread there

Key word was developing. Never said we drafted him or brought him up through the minors. Anyways, I listed half a roster and you want to get your panties knotted over one name, my point has clearly been made by a long shot. Our developing is good and some players can’t be developed unfortunately. That’s why the draft is often a crap shoot.

Wasnt attacking you or anything, just pointing out that you added a few names that shouldnt have been in there. No need to get your panties knotted over a discussion on CF.

Well we all know this, I’m clearly pointing out the obvious that we aren’t the issue when it comes to the 2 prospects that haven’t worked out. I love how people want to attack you for an exaggeration 😂. So if you want to say we didn’t draft him then ding ding you’re right! Simply stating that multiple guys hit new ceilings when they arrived, while the 1/2 a roster of guys we drafted have turned out great.

Drafting, developing, and signing fully developed players in their prime are three different things. The rangers sort of suck at all three.

Like the time you guys drafted 3 duds at 14/15/16 and the 3 guys after were absolute superstars? Ya, draft is a crap shoot and everyone had Kakko and Laf were they were. Miller, Schneider were great depth picks, nils might be also. Lias and Kravs have failed based on personal issues. Kravs has the skill and needs the chance to be top 6. We failed there but demanding trades with no NHL games under your belt is a solid move right?! Draft is an absolute crap shoot, how does 24 teams pass on Pasta 🤷🏻‍♂️…crap shoot..
