Puljujärvi is going to have at least 25 goals and at least 45 points, but every single non-Oilers fan on CapFriendly is going to say he is a product McDavid like you say with every other Oilers player. Holland is a genius for not trading especially not just Lias Anderson or a 2nd. I don't thing there has ever been a player that as so quickly turned from hated by fans to fan favourite.

Well 45 points isn’t “huge” judging by the guys he’s paired with

And he is a product of McDavid but so was Drai before he started carrying his own line

it is huge for guy everyone was calling a bust a couple years ago, he is a good 200ft top 6 player with a great shot.

Edmonton will still have another first round exit, The D and Goaltending are still suspect.

That’s not really a hot take on Puljujarvi. He was on pace for 22 goals last year and 37 points, but I agree he’ll have a solid season this year.

what does this have to do with Puljujärvi

Smith is looking great so far and Koskinen said that last year not being able to see his family really effected him mentally, Keith has going to play much better with much less ice time the he had in CHI, Nurse is going improve like he has every year of career, Bouchard is going into his first full game.

Should’ve drafted Wallstedt

Nothing, Puljujarvi had 15 goals 10 assists in 55 games for 25 points. In a normal season that's about 41 points or .05 PPG. He has yet to show that he can even put up 45 points or so. All i'm saying is until Edmonton improves their D and Goaltending they will always be a one and done playoff team. And Holland really blew it when he basically gave up the rights to Jesper Wallstadt. He wanted Sebastian Cossa which was never ever going to happen. He could've easily had his future franchise goalie in Wallstadt and blew it.

Oilers have very good goalie prospects in Skinner Konovalov

I'm not even sure if he'll be here next season with the salary cap being so tight. Kane, Yamo, and McLeod all need to be re-signed as well.

I think if the Bison King wants to stay on a small bridge deal we could look at different options to alleviate some cap by dumping Barrie and/or Kassian. Although, I would prefer to keep Kassian for his toughness, he doesn't play that role anymore. The same with Barrie, he's a good vet D with an offensive instinct, his contract might be better served to either allocate salary cap to re-sign the guys I've mentioned above or flip him for a shut down D at lower cap hit. Which is what the Oils lack right now.

I think it was a mistake from Holland to let Kulikov walk. I'm liking Kulak right now but if Holland had kept Kulikov we wouldn't be trading a conditional 2nd for Kulak.
