Description
As a team, the Habs weren't terrible. But there were some individuals that stood out to me in the game.

Suzuki line - They made chances, sure, but they didn't look that explosive. They weren't able to get through the traffic, and the PP was not good at all.
Dvorak line - Phenomenal. They could make a case for becoming our first line. Drouin & Anderson were terrific.
Evans line - They were average. Armia seemed like he didn't know what to do throughout the game though.
Paquette line - They were a model fourth line. Created offensive chances, and played good defensively.

Kulak & Petry - Kulak was actually great last night. Really liked how he played, and even though he jumped up quite a bit, he was able to get back good.
Chiarot & Savard - bad
Romanov & Wideman - Romanov was out for way too long on a lot of his shifts. He's gotta stop that. Wideman on the other hand looked good.

Allen - He lucked out a lot, but he played well in net.

Engvall, Kase, and Nylander were absolute monsters last night. Very surprised at the amount of chances Engvall made in particular.

Changes for next game:

The Suzuki line has to be better. They're a first line for a reason.
Give Perreault a look on the third line. He seemed to make great offensive opportunities on the fourth line, let him see what he can do on the third line with (also) two defensively responsible players.
Armia's gotta do better, or else he doesn't have that spot on the third line for long. If Perreault and Armia both flop next game, give Lehkonen or Paquette a look.
Split up Chiarot and Savard. They were horrific together. I don't see any logical way to do it other than putting Wideman on the second pair, or completely messing with the defensive lines. Romanov isn't a second pair defenseman until he can work on his shifts.

Power Play is atrocious, they need to move around. Stop worrying about the "setup" and allow the bottom 3 forwards to move around. IMO the only guy who should be in the same place is petry or whoever is the QB of the powerplay, Everyone else needs to move around and stay mobile.

Savard and Chiarot might be the slowest D Pair in the league, I agree you need to split them up.

I think the Ideal D for now is
Kulak Petry
Romanov Savard
Chiarot Wideman

Chiarot allows wideman to activate more and Savard played with Sergachev in tampa and the pair was solid. if Savard can help Romanov stay structed then I think he could become way more effective. Last night Romanov and Wideman looked lost in the D-Zone , could just be because its their first time playing a game with each other but it looked bad. Desperately need Edmundson back

Also Toffoli, man its hard not to judge already but he's been slow all pre season and last night. If he doesn't pick it up fast it might be time to look at Lekonen or Amria (Ideally Drouin or Anderson but that 2nd line looks too good) to fit in on the top line. Suzuki and Caufield have the same dynamic as Matthews and Marner do where they need that 3rd guy to be able to get into the board battles for the puck while they create open space for themselves and toffoli hasn't been doing much of anything yet.

See the problem with Romanov is that he just takes long shifts. Otherwise he'd be perfect for the second pair.
Toffoli you're absolutely right. Not sure how but he's been horrific.
