One of the best defensive pairs in the league is locked up for 8 years in the same price range as a few individual declining defensemen. That's unbelievable given the defensive market right now. Both Pulock and Pelech are on steals that will only look better as the cap rises.

First pair now signed through 2029 (Pulock has a year longer) for less than $12 million. What a deal! Now if Bolduc, Dobson and Wilde all pan out, this could be as great a defense as the glory years . . . not that any of you kids remember them.

Could make me an Islander fan again.

The Isles have a great top pairing, and now they’re locked up for less than 12 million combined for the next 8 years. Insane.

When Pelech/Pulock start pushing into their mid-30s and inevitably decline near the end of their deals, it won’t matter because the soon-to-be rising cap should make them priced out as a second pairing (which they’re pretty much priced at already). It’s hard to find deals that are this good for both now and later.

Both Nurse and Pulock were bridged right to UFA. I thought Pulock was going to be able to pressure NYI into more money than this. Fantastic deal for the Islanders

Having one of the best d pairs in the league locked up for sub $12 mil AAV is absolute wizardry, and this is coming from someone who is a harsh lou critic. If there’s one thing he can do well it’s sign dmen to contracts (minus Zaitsev)

I thought it would be smart for Lou to lock Pulock up for 7 million on 7 years a year before UFA. Surprised that Lou got him for 6 million+ for 8 years good job Lou

Everyone who noticed when this contract expires. He’ll be 35 years old. That’s around the age where most players retire. He’s likely gonna fall off by then (as all players do).
