With the recent Ducks history of injuries, I'd prefer that they extend him, TBH. Why? Because I know that if they don't, GMBM will leave it until the last minute and I guaran-f*cking-tee that the Rakell's/Hampus's (Hampusi?), and Manson's of the team will end up with some sort of injuries that deplete their trade value.

Maybe that was a bit harsh. Honestly, Hampus is the exact type of dman that this team needs to continue to build around. I guess that's why I'd prefer to extend him. GMBM better figure out whether he wants to keep him or not ASAP though.

I've been all for the Lindholm trade since the Leddy trade. Imagine a d-group with:

Pelech - Pulock
Lindholm - Dobson
Salo - Mayfield
(Chára - Aho)

I like it a lot. We are a contender now and we can afford it thanks to Lou's brilliance in signing team-friendly deals. Next year the cap will go up 1 mil and Komarov, Boychuk (gives us the possibility to accrue cap space), Hickey, Clutterbuck, and Johnston's contracts are all up. And with the possibility of trading Varlamov next offseason if Sorokin is ready to get rid of additional 5 mils. I don't believe Bailey is untouchable either.

If we want to contend this year something's gotta give on the d. We cannot win with both Chára and Greene as our 2 and 3LD. It's impossible.

I read the interview in the offseason with Lindholm done by Stephens on the Athletic, it felt like Lindholm wanted to test the market and go to a contender... What's your impression?

This would be the kind of trade Lou would make prior to signing the guy the following offseason. Not sure Lindholm gets this much on an expiring deal like this, but I honestly would still pay that price. This would make me feel a lot better if Lindholm came extended, but if he doesn’t, I fee like Lou would find a way to get it done anyways.

If we can't hang on to Hampus, this is a deal that I would LOVE to see.

I mean, it wouldn't surprise me. I said in a thread yesterday with a similar trade that if the Ducks were a more visible team, and that more people saw Lindholm's impact when healthy, there'd be 5 times as many Hampus mock trades on here every day.

To me, I have no problem holding onto a guy like Manson and potentially losing him for nothing in free agency. If the market isn't there for him, he provides a security blanket for a young guy like Drysdale. With Hampus, if you know that you can't re-sign him, you need to get him to the point where he has played some games, shown that he's healthy, and attack the market early. None of this rolling the dice until the deadline-Get something done.
