What I would offer for Kravtsov

Created by: Anus_McLeod
Team: 2021-22 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 12, 2021
Published: Oct. 15, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This would be my offer if I'm sitting in Sakic's seat. Not saying this will or won't get it done (I guess it depends on how the Rangers view Kaut and what is being offered from other teams), just that this is where I would go if I'm pulling the strings for the Avs.

Personally, I don't think Kaut is long for Colorado and could see him fitting in better with the Rangers. Similarly, I think Colorado could be a good fit for Kravtsov (i.e. classic change of scenery type trade). It won't be easy for either though, as there are a lot of young players competing for spots on both teams.

It's a worthwhile risk for Colorado (imho). Not sure about the Rangers. Again though, this is what I would offer. If it doesn't do it, move on.
Trades

  1. Kaut, Martin
  2. 2022 5th round pick (COL)

To me, it doesn't hurt because Kravtsov wants out and the Avs don't seem interested in giving Kaut a chance. I'd try to keep the 5th and give them Kaut and any B prospect they want.

I agree, Kaut is the upper limit on what you offer, but I think right now Kaut is closer to being a regular NHLer vs Kravtsov. It would be a weird move as, why not just give Kaut the 3rd line Wing role, you drafted and developed the guy.

I would rather try to do a Beaucage and a 4th type of move. I really am not super sold on Kravtsov. he has sort of the Jost issue that people obsess over his draft position so he must be worth so much more or he has to be so much better.....the investment in draft capital is over with, that pick is sunk into the prospect, now its just trading for what he is today. And right now I dont think hes any closer to an NHLer who can Make a meaningful impact over any of there current Eagles. Would be a nice guy to pick up but prefer not to break the bank to get him

For any team looking to acquire Krav...hope you have a 2RW or 3RW spot in the wait for him. I see that as a slap in the face to the players on a team and in their system who have been working their tails off to get better so they can stick with their Big team. Krav has tons of skill and talent...but the dude has to grow up and lose his sense of entitlement.

From afar that’s kinda the feeling that I get too, that he has a ton of appeal with skill size and speed but then he I giving a russian interview talking about being traded. Some guys just don’t fit in some franchises, look at Ryan Graves as an example, but you aren’t owed a damn thing by the team that drafted you.

apparently he is willing to go to the AHL and just sign his QO for next season on the right team, sounds like he wants out of NY that bad he is willing to do whatever it takes and just isnt demanding a roster spot on a new team

I agree, it is a big slap in teh face for a guy to just come in and leap frog the peeking order, he has to put the work in, so if he is willing to go to the AHL and do what he needs to do with a new team bc he is happy and focused thre, thats fine. If hes just saying that thinking goign to the AHL is just a 20 game thing as a token move, he will be in russia before he knows it

Sampo Ranta and him are in the same draft....Ranta has worked his tail off, as a 3rd round pick, done everything asked of him, developed, worked on his game, and made his NHl debut last year and made the team this year. Both are Left Shot wingers. if Kravtsov thinks he can just waltz in and take Rantas spot or play up the depth chart compared to him. Guy needs to do more work

Agreed that some guys don't fit with some teams....but when the problem with one team stems from disagreement over off season training regimen...buyer beware!

Yeah there is some needed due diligence before pulling the trigger, as he certainly wouldn't be gifted a spot. I like his skillset though and could see it being a good fit with the Avs. That combined with Kaut seemingly being perpetually out of favor with Bednar makes this a worthwhile move (imo).

I dont really see the Kaut out of favour stuff, he has had lots of opportunities, its not like they arent giving him chances, he just needs to be more consitent.
The reason why the Megnas of the world get called up bc they have a very defined consistent baseline, there is no suprises at their floor, they are what they are and coaches know that and can game plan around it.

Kaut is only 21, his time will come

I'm not so sure. His TOI was trending in the wrong direction last season, and Bednar just hasn't seemed too excited about him overall. I could be misreading it, but I feel feel like he keeps being passed on the depth (or favorability) chart (Newhook, Ranta, LOC, and potentially Bowers, Olausson).

I think Drury (NYR) takes that & moves on.
Kravstov reportedly said he'd play in the AHL for another team.
Kaut gives NYR the flexibility to send him to Hartford (AHL) but likely earn a call up this year.

Fair. I'd do it from a Rangers perspective. I've been interested in Kaut since he was a potential return for Kreider, although I'm not sure Colorado needs to add, could just be a one for one.
