Not too sure how to feel about this. Another big time defenseman contract, although McAvoy is certainly deserving of the big bucks if Jones is

It’s a steal. Absolute wizardry by Sweeney negotiating with his own players as always. For a guy that’s incompetent in most other realms, he’s really good at this

Given the jones and nurse contracts, McAvoy had every right to demand $11M, and now everyone is setting up Adam Fox for $20M

This is a way under market contract. And this is actually a real comparable for fox, who I now think should be similar

Did that contract happen or just speculation?

Absolute steal, McAvoy is miles better than Darnell Nurse and was signed to the same deal

Probably right around fair for Mac. His numbers will definitely increase with a lot more PP time this year. Most people who call this a huge overpay just don’t watch. He’s a top 5 D-man right now and still has some ceiling to reach.

Steal. But I thought he was gonna take about a mil less bc he’s in Boston. He’s probably worth 10.5-11 mil. Good contract especially for 8 years

Ok nice. I think it’s a good contract for a few reasons. First they are buying a lot of UFA years, compared to a guy like Makar who was coming out of his ELC. He got the same AAV as Werenski but with 2 more years of term. The price for D has also gone up since Chabot and Heiskanen signed (also both off their ELC with less UFA years bought ).

I’ve always been clear that I thought his market was 11. I’m thrilled

Floored that Boston spent this much money on anyone considering what each guy on their top line makes.

Well worth the money.

If the cap had gone up , probably 11 but it’s going to be a very good contract in 2-3 years

What does Pasta's next contract look like in two years? For arguments sake the cap goes up by maybe 2M by then.

For some reason I always expected mcavoy to push for every penny, and for Pastrnak to take a bit of a haircut. Same contract probably works. I’m guessing that this 9.5 represents a new internal cap

lmao, Remember when all the RFAs weren't going to take long term contracts? Brady, McAvoy... epic...

As if I need more reasons to hate Boston, they manage to get their players under contract long term with reasonable cap hits. Some of them are headscratchers as to how they are so low.

lmfao, All those silly back and forth's, now all of a sudden Fox is deemed worthy of an 8 year contract... amazing

Where have I said fox isn’t worth 8 years? I’ve always thought the rangers should give him max term. What are you talking about? Back and forth? More like straight line. Not my fault if you couldn’t understand it

Literally the same contract.

"How on earth does Drury convince Fox to sign that?"
