And why would Buffalo do this? It’s not like he is gone at the end of the season. He is still an RFA, and probably more valuable than your throwaway fourth liner that we could claim on waivers for free at some point this year, and what will likely be a late first round pick.

I don't know, while the leafs have a lot of talent there is something fragile about them - they could be a cup contender but I could also see them falling apart and not making the playoffs.

I like what I’ve seen from Engvall so far this year this could be his breakout year

The problem is he starts out real good when he's first in the lineup then he gets comfortable and you don't see him anywhere for 10 games

And why would Buffalo do this?... IMO the Sabres would make this trade to make the team worse.

...the leafs...could ..falling apart and not making the playoffs... Especially with Tampa, Boston, Montreal and Florida in the Atlantic.

Terrible trade for the Leafs... maybe not terrible but sort of a desperate move.
I like Olofsson, but with Peterka nipping at his heels for NHL playing time, I could see the Sabres trading him for a 2022 first round draft pick. Let me add he is 26, same age as Ristolainen, while not old he would be 28 by the time the Sabres are ready to compete.

Bottom line, IMO it is a win - win for the Sabres.
If they make the trade the get a pick and free up a roster spot for Peterka.
If they do not make the trade they still have Olofsson.
