All Aboard the Eichel Cycle - Year End Team

Created by: jcambers
Team: 2021-22 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 16, 2021
Published: Oct. 16, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is my idea of what the team might look like by the end of the year with Monahan, Johnny, and some younger pieces going out for Eichel.

Let's face it... many of us have Monahan being shipped out in order to for us to try and land Eichel - it might need to happen both from a roster and salary perspective. BUT... Monahan has a NTC and he's not going to waive it for Buffalo. So, what needs to happen? Monahan will likely have to be traded elsewhere and gain an asset that can be added to Eichel's BUF bounty.

Also, the Johnny trade is a salary move since he'll be signing elsewhere next year anyway and we need AAV room for Tkachuk.

If Flames were to trade for Eichel it would to be on a line with Tkachuk and Gaudreau

You seem to of the believe teams have cap space to take on high priced players without sending cap back to the Flames.
Minni and Rangers don't have the cap for those trades, and why should they. Monahan is kinda meh, and Rangers shouldn't be giving all that for a rental, and they can't afford Gaudereau next year.

Keep it simple, like you’ve done for a while. Monahan, Zary, Dube, first. Buffalo promises Monahan to hold half salary and trades him elsewhere thus making him more valuable and can damn near pick a destination for probably similar returns. Buffalo ends up with Zary, a couple firsts, and Dube (any additional stuff for holding the salary). No need to modify an already solid proposal just to muddy the water.

Well it would just be constructed as a 3-way trade to begin with. And with Brisson running the show now that is very possible (he made the Duchene trade happen).

As I actually said in a post to someone else like 5 minutes ago I think my original package may even be on the high side now (at least in terms of guaranteed assets) since its been nearly 4 months since i proposed that package. Imo it would be more likely to include Gudbranson instead of Dube and make it 2 conditional 1sts.

The trade wont happen before tonight's game anyways so we'll get to see how Monahan does and maybe get a better idea on his value (how back to normal is he)

Minnesota doesn't want Sean Monahan. This has been talked about lots om here. One of the player Minnesota wild insider reporter has been clear about our gm not wanting; having any interest in is Sean Monahan. No team especially Minnesota is going to give up 1st round pick so calgary can get better player in eichel

I would be fine with that, one for sure first one conditional. At the same time, I know everyone thinks the time spent drops the value. Perceived for sure, but at this point, it’s very apparent Adam’s won’t drop the value too much. In what will actually happen, it’s gonna be wild to see which fan base thinks it’s too little/too much

Im not even sure if it will be 1 for sure 1st. I would say 1 1st based on results and 1 with a mild condition based on him playing like at least half of the next season

Im not saying the value has dropped, im saying my perspective has changed due to me expecting way more conditions than before

I doubt Adam’s accepts a deal with no first guaranteed. But again we’ll see what happens

And right now a team trading for him cant guarantee he ever plays again or comes back wven remotely as good as he was. Conditional picks are the only insurance the buying team can get
