Description

As much as I like the Hawks, trying to force this team to contend ain't really working out. They have very few young prospects/players, they're drive to keep competing is leading to them going after experienced players on the wrong side of 30 and driving out younger players. Time to have a Chi-town fire sale before all the players lose even more value. Doesn't help now that I've realized just how many of their tradeable assets have NMC.

Dach is a bridge-deal and based on him having breaking out this year.

The trouble with some of those trades, is teams don't have cap to acquire the player without sending cap back to the Hawks.
The Oiler trade....Oilers would prefer to keep the cost efficient hopeful Holloway, the picks, and any cap money left over spend it elsewhere.

Seems like when the Hawks acquired Jones, they don't want to rebuild.

Is this serious right now? Minnesota doesn't need LW, or Winger at all! Minnesota especially isn't giving lottery 1st round pick to their division rival. So no Minnesota says not a chance

"fire sale" and "actually rebuild" are terms that signal, to me, moving core players: Kane, Toews, Debrincat, Jones, McCabe. This is more tinkering at the edges. It's a lot of tinkering but it wouldn't leave this team in much better place in 2023 when they have to figure out if they can keep Kane, Toews, and Debrincat.
