How Everyone Comes Back in 2022-23

Created by: bruinsdude77
Team: 2022-23 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 16, 2021
Published: Oct. 16, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With McAvoy’s new deal, even if DeBrusk earns his $4.41MM QO, Zboril takes over a starting role this year and earns a slight bump in AAV with the threat of arb, and Wags gets called back up and proves himself to be the ideal extra forward, the team can still bring everyone back including Bergeron. In this scenario, there is nearly $5MM in cap space. If Moore is bought out or Wags remains buried, there is even more. That’s more than enough for the base salary for Bergeron when he’s eligible for bonuses. There’s also enough roster space for Studnicka and Vaakanainen, who lose waive exemption next year. So don’t panic - if the 2021-22 Bruins are great they can easily run it back in 2022-23

You're dreaming if you think bergeron is taking that deal. He isn't signing for a penny less than what he makes now atleast. He should get a raise really.

Any logical reason to think that?

I think his cap number is actually lower. He has 3 mill with 3 mill in performance bonuses written all over him.

Yes.
His closest comparable would be Backstrom. Bergeron is older so he wouldn't get 5 years, but would definitely get 2 or 3.
Backstrom got top dollar and again, because of Bergerons age its unlikely he gets as much $, but he could easily get 8 mill.

I think the Bruins would be extremely lucky if they could get him to agree to continue his current AAV (6.875M) for another 2-3 year deal. That would be a steal.

No no, I said logical.

I think backstroms deal expires at age 37. Bergeron turns 37 a few weeks after his current deal expires. No comparison whatsoever
