Description

It's probably over complicating things but I've been impressed by Kase, Kampf, and Bunting, not really Ritchie. While this disconnects Kampf from Kase, it puts Kase in an offensive role and Bunting to the first line

This would be an energy fourth line, though Ritchie would still get pp time and still a checking 3rd line

Ritchie on the fourth line and engvall in the lineup is not it. I don’t mind the top 6 tho. I’d do this:

Ritchie-Matthews-Marner
Bunting-Tavares-Nylander
Kerfoot-Kampf-Kase
Simmonds-Semyonov-Spezza

Kase is needed on that 3rd line. It’s the first time in a while the Leafs have someone who can drive it and not be such a let down offensively when the top 6 isn’t on the ice. If I was to go out of the box, it would be to utilize Spezza more. Play him in the top 6, they did with Joe. Then you can put Ritchie with Kase who both had success playing together with the Ducks.

Kerfoot will be on the 4th line when this team is at full health anyways. And yes, he is wasted there.

Ideally when Mikheyev is healthy you go with Engvall Kerfoot Mikheyev (who when paired last year together player well together) as you checking line. So:
Nylander Matthews Spezza
Bunting Tavares Marner
Ritchie Kampf Kase
Engvall Kerfoot Mikheyev

Again, I hope I’m wrong but I will be very surprised if Keefe doesn’t have Kerfoot as the 4C once the Leafs are at full health
