Well thanks for straightening that out for me!

In which way? Bad for Car? Bad for Peg? Both players project to be impact players in the T6/T4. Help me out here

Bad for Car.

Seth Jarvis was taken in a deep draft in 2020 at 13th overall and is the next man up at forward already for a cup contender.

Heinola was taken in a draft that is not as deep in 2019 at 20th overall and is not the next man up on defence for a weaker team.

Heinola is also a year older and it takes longer to develop prospects that are defencemen as opposed to prospects that are forwards.

U can’t determine a players ability and potential by where they were drafted and how their respective team is built

The teams draft by ability and potential sure but there r a lot of times when players bust or slip through

And also the Jets and Hurricanes strengths and weaknesses play no part on how good the player is….. what changes there is how important the player is to the organization

If I offered you Scott Morrow for Cole Perfetti, would you want Carolina to add?

I'm not sure about Heinola, but Seth Jarvis is not going to be a bust.

And yes, he is very important to the Canes' organization.

Okay, if I offered you Heimosalmi for Cole Perfetti, would you want Carolina to add?

I think you need to come up with a better argument. Ville is always been touted by many to be a great prospect who projects as a T4 prospect. He was (rumoured) to be the one most sought after at the TDL and was called by a few (quantified) as the best prospect north of the border. He was one of the best players in the recent IIHF tournament and has always excelled at every level he has played.

Heimosalmi and Morrow (Morrow in particular) has the ceiling of a top pairing defenseman. He's aware at both ends of the ice, and has the ability to move the puck like few others. His issue is that his floor is below the ECHL. He could very well not play professional hockey. He was rated by EP as someone that could have gone in the 1st round.

Heimosalmi was the player the Canes took with the pick they got for Jake Bean. He's been rumored to hav at minimum a 3rd pairing floor and being closer to NHL ready than many defenseman from his draft class.

That said, this is stupid. Scott Wheeler called Seth Jarvis the best prospect outside of the NHL last year. He was a point per game in 2 different leagues, and he's 19. He's already on the fringes of the NHL roster, and will make his debut pretty soon here. They're not going to move THAT kind of player for someone that's been in the rumor mill already. And if anyone wanted him (Heinola) that badly, he'd be on a new team by now.

Yep agreed.. followed him a lot at his draft year cause I liked his playing style and he’s a hometown kid and really hoped Chevy would draft him, (before Perfetti somehow slid to 10th)

And I think he fits the Canes style really well

?? When was Heinola on the trade block? I know NSH wanted Heinola for Ekholm but Chevy had 0 interest

And Jets have no need for Jarvis.. it’ll take him a couple of years to make a real impact and by then Rashevsky’s KHL contract will be up

As for Heinola I expect him to force himself into the Jets blue line at some point this season

He never was afaik, but rumors at the TDL were Heinola was asked about a lot hence Chevy balking at any big trades (Ekholm for example).

Problem is, I see Heinola on the outside looking in. I would have been happy just grabbing Dillon and rolling Heinola in the lineup since he can play the right side, Schmidt really threw a wrench into that and Heinola may have a hard time inserting himself into the lineup, especially with PoMo as the coach as he would probably rather play BooLoo over anyone in the moose, but that is less indicative of their play and more towards PoMos preferences/faults.

Jarvis is already in the NHL, he's already making a real impact, and is on a cup contender no less. Plus, he's younger than Rashevsky

Lol let’s wait till he plays a single regular season game before u go saying he’s already in the NHL and making a real impact

As for cup contender? Dunna… that goaltending has a lot to prove. And letting a top defender go does come without issues

Frederik Andersen is a proven starter... and TDA has ben everything they ever asked Dougie to be. As for Jarvis, if he's on the roster over guys like Leivo, Noesen, CJ Smith.... yeah, he's doing something right.
