Yeah.. teams don't usually sign a guy in the offseason on a multi-year deal just to trade him right away..

100% agree with that statement. But it just seems like the best fit for the Hawks and fair value.

That's way too much for Strome, he's a 3c, Hoffman is already more valuable imo

i think it all depends on how Hoffman and Strome play. If Hoffman gets 20 goals 45-50 points, Strome gets 12-15 goals 35-45 points, then Hoffman does have more value and there's no need for MTL to add, rather, the contrary should happen. But if you do want MTL to add, I'd advise trying to bolster their defense. Maybe try moving Chiarot in the deal and acquiring someone like Stillman

So you're saying Habs move Hoffman & Chiarot for Strome & Stillman? I honestly don't know Stillman that well, but if he is a strong skating puck moving defenseman with upside I like the idea.

My idea is just get chiarot out, and package him with hoffman for strome and a Blackhawks defenseman. doesn't have to be stillman specifically, but we ideally want a defenseman that can mesh with savard

I don't see the Hawks wanting 4.5m X 3 Hoffman. at all

Maybe we should just let Hoffman play a game before moving him? Especially since we’re currently starving for goals. Our C position isn’t the problem.
