Description
Over the cap but that’s because I couldn’t include Arizona retaining.
It’s a very high price to pay for a rental but it’s a deal with the devil. I brought in Braun because I’m following Holland’s trend of acquiring a veteran d at deadline. This provides insurance in that both sides of the d have a defence first option ready to go in the event of an injury.

I kinda messed up making the money work but it’s a very minor amount that could be adjusted threw the philly deal.

I don't see Calgary trading Gaudreau to Edmonton. If he is traded its probably to NJD or PHI

Depends how far on the outside Calgary is. Pretty clear it’s just a rental for Edmonton so it’s not like Calgary needs to worry that can come back and haunt them the following season. I don’t see philly of New Jersey being able or willing to better that offer.

We will see I have Vegas Edmonton and van ahead of them. I do want them to do well just because nothing would be more entertaining than a best of seven battle of Alberta. If the eichel situation continues to prolong this deal could make that even more of a possibility as well.

It sucks that these two teams are rivals because this trade doesn't look half bad

This is to develop jp as a driver and finisher providing him two players that are very capable of keeping pace with jp and can feed him the puck. Pacioretty would be nice but odds of him being available at deadline are much more unclear and unlikely.

I’m thinking that if the Oilers are willing to part with significant assets, improving on an already potent offence is probably not in the cards. Would suggest acquiring a short or long term high quality goaltender may be wiser.

Addressing goaltending is an option could still do but who’s to say there will be a goalie available that would be better than what we got? Smith in a few games has been showing last year was no fluke he’s got a few really good miles left in him. Kosk had a tough year last year but is completely capable of bouncing back to the kosk a year prior and if so goaltending could be a much bigger strength to the team than given credit for.
