Emily Kaplan has a recent article breaking down coach and GM options. Chris macfarland, the Av's assistant GM, sounds like a good option to me.

The Hawks seem to have some pretty good scouts though, should probably hang onto them at least.

Detroit has no interest in Carpenter. Your best bet is trading him at the TDL to a team looking for defensive depth heading in to the playoffs.

Strome's ppg has dropped significantly in each of the last 2 seasons and I doubt Yzerman trades a early 2nd in a deep draft to get him. A playoff team looking to take the next step is where you should be looking to trade Strome to. A team that can afford trade a 1st or a 2nd.

2 teams rebuilding just don't make good trade partners.

It’s mainly due to injuries

I don't think Detroit would be interested. Strome wouldn't really fit in the Top 6, especially once Larkin and Vrana are healthy again. An early 2nd is too much for someone that would likely populate your 3rd line on a rebuilding team.
