Devils decline. They named Hischier captain recently and you don't trade someone right after they got named captain

Wrote this a few days ago in response to the idea of Devils buying at TDL, have the same thoughts about this ACGM:

"I don't think this is the best approach, there isn't really any circumstance in which I'd want this Devils team to do these types of moves at TDL. As a Devils fan I want to see that the current core is competent enough to challenge for playoffs standing on their own two legs.
If we are to draw any lessons from Shero's tenure at New Jersey, it is that you should never sell off future assets until the team has proven they are ready to capitalize on short-term gain."

I'd add that Devils isn't a very good tradepartner for an Eichel trade. I'd be distraught if this trade went down.
Also, that's way too much for Tarasenko.

Devils are probably team #29 out of 31 teams in line for Eichel. Not a great match.
Also, given his current value, there is no way Devils include Hischier in deal. Maybe if he were healthy.
