SJS-COL

Created by: DenisPotvin
Team: 2021-22 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 17, 2021
Published: Oct. 17, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Assuming Kane's contract is terminated...
Trades
SJS
  1. Compher, J.T.
  2. Kaut, Martin
  3. 2022 3rd round pick (COL)
COL
  1. Gambrell, Dylan
  2. Nieto, Matt
Additional Details:
Sharks absorb Compher's cap while getting a prospect with good upside in Kaut and a third-rounder. Colorado gets someone to help their center depth and a cost-controlled player who should be a fourth-liner for them.

Mostly, though, this trade is about Colorado saving cap space and the Sharks capitalizing on their cap space.

100% no. A waiver wire guy, a 13th forward for a good prospect and decent nhler and a pick

Compher does not have negative value, lets stop pretending that on this site

Why is COL adding a prospect + pick? Compher is the best player in this deal

This is an obvious no from COL. Would be a Sharks dream return.

Compher has actually been good to start the season, with 1 goal and 1 assist in 2 games with a 59% corsi. Sakic won't be in a hurry to offload him unless it's as part of a bigger deal where salary needs to be moved to make room for someone like Eichel or Hertl.

Avs also have an abundance of 4th liners so this trade doesn't really address a need. Assets like Kaut, 3rd, and Compher should be saved for upgrades to the top 6 rather than sideways moves (at best).

I wouldn't take Compher for free.

That's an obvious pass from Colorado, bad in all aspects for them.

He’s better Than half your fwd core,

....How so? Who is the Sharks's forward core, exactly, and how is he better than half?

He's a low-end third-liner/high-end fourth-liner who is overpaid in a league where the cap is ~7 million less than what it *should* have been.

how so? History and current level of play, thats how so
Stop acting like he is some sort of Black Plague player, he is a good useful player that is a tad bit over priced, what you are saying about his is jus straight up lies. You can say you just dont like him as a player, dont flie in an effort to belittle him and make it seem he is worse than he is

What is the Sharks's forward core, then? Let's see if that's where the confusion arises...

OK so generally "forward core" doesn't mean ALL the forwards. Forward core means the "core" of your forwards; your very best forwards.

Anyways, Compher would at best be 8th among the Sharks forwards, and easily the least valuable because of his contract. Compher is better than Nieto; I Comper at 1.3 over Nieto at league min. But I easily take Nieto at league min over Compher at 3.5.
