Both teams decline.

Boston not paying that, and if no Lysell than it’s a no from Buffalo.

If the Sabres hypothetically offered this the Bruins would accept immediately.

Boston makes that trade in a second they aren’t giving up any value for eichel. Buffalo however hangs up the phone

I really wonder how much the Sabres will get. I’d say Buffalo will work really hard to avoid trading him within the division.

I think it completely depends how many teams are actually interested and if Buffalo will retain some money or not

Completely false. Nobody is giving up 5 quality pieces for an injured Eichel.

Lol, no they wouldn’t. They can give up half that for a healthy Hertl and sign him to an extension for 3/4 of the cap hit and be much better off.

You’re right but that’s not 5 “quality pieces”. You really think Buffalo is gonna trade eichel to a division rival for debrusk a middle 6 prospect and basically 2 second rounders?

This isn’t enough for Hertl either. Both Moore and Debrusk are bad, Vaakanainen, and Studnicka are nothing special. The only quality thing is a late first.

You literally just said boston wouldn’t make that trade… realistically for eichel to go to boston it’s gonna take Carlo Lysell and 2 1sts going back to Buffalo not the garbage above

How do you figure? There’s nothing in that trade worth more than a 2nd round pick

Easy, You have no idea what Eichel is going to be from here on out. Nobody is giving up a pile of assets for an unknown. It’s a huge risk. `You want to drain your bank account to buy a Ferrari with no engine feel free. It’s not wise.

Boston’s farm system is 💩. You will get no help from it for years after this move.

Cap issues. Multiple contracts with NMCs creating little wiggle room.

So many obstacles to make it work.

The only way Boston is making a run at Eichel is if Bergy tells him he’s retiring and Eichel has proven healthy and unaffected by whatever treatment he goes through..

By then the price will increase and they don’t have the kind of assets to outbid others along with Buffalo’s desire to move him out of division/conference.

Eichel to Boston is just not happening. The only conceivable way is Buffalo decides to move him immediately and everyone else is to scared to pull the trigger leaving Boston with the by far the best offer on the table. In other words, same odds as the winning the lottery.

You have been very consistent offering the most rational and accurate comments.
I completely agree Lysell has to be in the trade.
Let's start with the premise that BOTH Buffalo and Boston are willing to make a trade, what do you think Boston would offer?
IMO Moore and DeBrusk have to be in the deal for cap purposes.
Lysell has to be in the deal as he is a decent prospect draft last year.
Beyond that I would love to hear from you.

Ugh, wrote out a long detailed response. Ipad swiped to a different page while editing a section and lost it all. Don’t have time to redo.

Bottom line. That depends on when a trade was done.

Today. I can’t see Boston doing much more than 1st, Lysell, Debrusk, 2nd, Moore for cap purposes.

Disclaimer for the same couple of Buffalo fans (you know who you are)…i know it does not get accepted, stop crying, this is from Boston’s perspective. Also, try understanding you are not getting FMV for Eichel right now.

This would mitigate risk from Boston as it would not affect the team this year at all if Eichel missed the entire season. The problem is the cap. If he does come back they still have to move more of it and most everyone making over 2m has an NMC or NTC. Plus there is Rask still in the ether.

An in season deal after Eichel returns and proves healthy and productive would be incredibly difficult for Boston to pull off.

Offseason….who knows. On paper today an offseason trade would look something like a pair of 1sts, Lysell, Carlo. If Bergy does not retire they won’t move Carlo as they won’t be desperate for a 1C and their RD depth behind Carlo is non-existant. However trade values will change between now and then. I fully expect Debrusk to bounce back to his 20 goal self. If Studnicka gets into the lineup due to injury or ineffectiveness I expect it will be tough to get him out. Was very impressive in camp/pre. Off to good start in Prov. Right now they look like less than intriguing secondary pieces. By years end they could be desirable assets altering our view of what the trade could be.

I won’t say never. But it’s unlikely. Other teams can offer a better package of prospects. Just because they can does not mean they will, or be in position cap wise to be able to. Then there is the desire to move him out of division. We saw the same thing with Mark Stone. By all reports Boston made a better offer but Ott took a lesser deal to move him west. That desire is not as strong as most fans think, yes it’s a thing, but in the end if they feel the best offer for them is in the division they will take it. If it’s close then it becomes a factor.

Thank you for your feed back.
OK let's be completely clear here, 1st, Lysell, Debrusk, 2nd, Moore without retention is not a bad offer.
I completely agree, Buffalo would be gambling on Jake.
If he returns to 20g/season, Buffalo wins the trade, if not they still have Lysell and the first to fall back on,
You are correct most Buffalo fans would want the 2nd to be a first and Studnicka added, then cry that Jack is a bust and DeBrusk is a LW while Buffalo has Skinner, Olofsson, Peterka, Bjork, etc.
Believe me I have read the routine too often, I know all of the moves.
If the first and second are 2022, I take the trade a gamble on DeBrusk bouncing back, Lysell jumping the NHL in two years and the first round pick producing a mid 6 forward.
Sure Jack may step up and provide the winning goal 3 out of four times against Buffalo, so what, Buffalo hardly ever beats Boston anyway LOL.
Buffalo wants to be bad this year, DeBrusk with 20 goals is not going to make Buffalo a playoff team, it will take a solid full team effort, not one player.
Now here is a dirty little secret no Sabre fan wants to admit:
In the last 28 games he played, the Sabres were 7-18-3 with 4 shut outs and scoring 5 or more goals once.
In the last 24 games that he has not played the Sabres are 11-11-2 with 2 shut outs and scoring 5 or more goals 6 times.
I know Krueger had a lot to do with the poor performance, but that record does not send chills up and down my spine that Jack will make Boston into a cup champion.
