Description
I'm not in the trade Marner camp because of his playoff production, I'm in the trade Marner camp because you should realistically have 1-2 10+M players not three, his money needs to be redistributed around the lineup.

82.5 M cap is possible but not a guarantee.

You think so? I figured they would keep Cirelli over serg strictly because stamer is getting up there in age.

Trading away top 5 scoring is not a good idea

Having little to no reliable depth is a worse thing.

Also he's one of the lowest in points among players with an equivalent amount of games in the playoffs

That's a good point, then again I can always swap the trade to Cirelli giving you guys the same package which can definitely help the dman pipeline, kral looks like he's going to be a player for sure.

However I feel they figure out a way to keep both living in Tampa Bay and playing for the best ownership in sports has it advantages

I wouldn't say they are the best ownership in sports. They really only have two advantages, the tax and the blending in, in public

Just because players love playing for the owner doesn't make him a great owner. I think they are a really good ownership group but not the greatest.

He started the now league wide community heroes program when he bought the team and has by ESPN been the best run franchise in North America the last 5 years

I feel like Sergachev gets more hype but Corelli may be more important. What a good problem to have though, too many good players. Lol

Ignoring the Sergachev trade (because that just isn't happening): the Kadri for kerfoot swap essentially. The thing is Kadri is going to be like 31 or something when this deal starts. Look at his contemporaries in his draft they've peaked and are beginning their decline. Hopefully slowly mind you. The other top C's from his draft? Tavares and Duchene in the top 10 and ROR in the second round...

I'd certainly take Kadri last two years over kerfoot and almost certainly this year.

But next year I'm less sure especially with a 1.5 mil difference in cap hit

I don't disagree it is on the weaker side of an offer but value wise I think it's still a fair deal

I had the same thoughts but even if he's on the decline he can still be effective in other capacities that kerfoot can't provide and only for three years taking hi to 34 Im okay with bringing him back.

He has had one bad round last year. Without it he has 20 points in 24 playoffs gp. He was shut down by a good line. It happens. It sucks and he has to own it, but it doesn't define him.

He also had no puck luck. The last three years playoffs he's had a 5-6 % on ice shooting percentage at evens compared to his regular season average of 11% or his first two years of 7 and 13.

Yes, yes he is. Probably not to Anaheim but they could use dependable RHD. If he was going to a top three contender I wouldn't take less than a first. Look at what top four dmen got this year. He easily outplays his contract.

Extensions are not allowed by the NHL as conditions on trading draft picks.

And if we are trading Connor Brown back to Toronto next year, it will be for a guaranteed late 1st at a minimum.

But like I said in the description that isn't my motive to move him. I agree wholeheartedly with the statement you just layed out but it simply comes down to salary distribution. If he signed for 8-9 mill I'm probably not having this stance
