Makar’s deal takes him from 22-28. Fox will be 24 when his deal kicks in. Zero comparison. Mcavoy is the same age, same caliber, and seems to have taken the same type of discount rangers expect fox will. 8x9.5-10 makes all the sense in the world

Exactly what i said, Adam Fox will want 8 x $10,000,000 easily. And most Ranger fans called me crazy.

I mean Makar got 9x6yrs if Fox takes 2 more years 10mill is reasonable considering just how good he as he did win the Norris last season.

If rangers want max term probs gonna have to give him more than Makar. But if its a 6 yr deal probs looking at a Makar deal just with more bonus money involved.

If he has another Norris like season and I'm his agent, I want him to be the highest paid d-man in the NHL and I don't think its unrealistic. I also think if you're the Rangers you pay it and figure out the rest later. If he's already got 1-2 Norris trophy's at 24yrs old you'd be crazy not to. Kid is still a few years from even being in his prime. 8yr/$11.5 million, lock him up till he's 32yrs old.

on an 8 year deal its probably 10+. Same age as McAvoy and Mac got 8 X 9.5. Fox has the points + the Norris to drive that number upwards. The starting place will most likely be the McAvoy deal - Some people mentioned the Makar deal, but thats kinda comparing apples to oranges considering the Makar deal only eats 1 UFA year.

The thing that bothers me about Fox wanting "market value", is market value is based on having a market.
If you refuse to play for 31/32 teams, then you should be taking a discount to stay with the 1 team remaining.
It's not like you can use leverage and say team X is ready to offer $12M, when both parties know you have no intention of leaving New York.
You want to get paid, go to the highest bidder. You want to pick and choose, make your contract fit better for the team.

it's not like people are calling McAvoy overpayed or anything. 10+ for Fox is never gonna happen. At most he gets 10 mil, but probably be 9.5*8. If he keeps playing like he is, and I don't see why he'd drop off, I'd be more than happy with a 9.5 deal, as long as we get him locked up for 8 years, he's worth every penny.

Got to keep in mind the tax situation and New York is probably among the worst in the US. Paying twice as much in New York as Makar is in Colorado.
