Possible devils free agent signings

Description

Note the contracts are not accurate I am making this to show who I think they should sign not what I think they contracts should be.

Now they need to focus on signing forwards,

At the top of my list is Johnny Gaudreau, he is is talented, can shoot the puck, would play well with Hughes, hometown boy. I think that is the best free agent they could sign.

Andre burakovsky

He would fit well in the middle six and would provide good scoring depth, which they need

Kevin Rooney, if Foote isn’t ready bring back Rooney he has improved since joining the rangers and would fit well with McLeod and Wood

Filip forsberg

Would be a good signing top 6 guys talented,

If they are gonna for D again might as well go big

Morgan Rielly

Pretty self-explanatory, star 2-way D

John Klingberg

Would fit right under Dougie Hamilton as 2nd RD he would good addition considering the right side is a bit weak if Subban isn’t re-signed. But if Subban is re-signed this signing is not necessary, I would resign Subban personally because it gives you enough skill at a cheaper price.

Overall I would prioritize the forward signings the D signings aren’t necessary but Would boost the team. If I had to pick 2 of the people I mentioned I would pick gaudreau because I think that would be a home run signing for them and Rooney(if Foote isn’t ready) because he would really slot in well next to wood and McLeod

Free agency is what kills a team far more than helps...

Build from within...avoid the headaches...

Hamilton was an exception of a player at the top of his game in a rare position (RHD).

Don't spend on wingers long term unless they are elite.

Seems they just made a typo on the Rielly

I don't think the Devils need to go crazy in the UFA market next season.

Rielly doesn't interest me at all. Our LD pipeline is crazy deep and we really only need one of them to hit.
Klingberg would only interest me if management knew that Severson wasn't interested in re-signing. Sevo on the 3rd pairing would be absurd.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Devils add a top 6 winger, but they have no reason to go big like they did with Dougie to fill a hole.
Zacha-Hischier-Bratt
Shango-Hughes-Holtz
is a solid top 6 and that doesn't even include Tatar would could absolutely jump up.
Should definitely at least talk of Gudreau though. You can't ignore a high-end winger from Jersey.

Never overpay for wingers - there are always tons available.
Can always find value.
Maybe add one d-man via free agency if we let Severson or Graves walk.

Otherwise, continue to build from within.

I would love Forsberg, makes their offence pretty scary. He'd be a really great mentor for Holtz as well

Can't say I agree with this, point per game wingers that are in their mid 20's don't grow on trees. Forsberg would be a wonderful add for NJ

I don't really know what you're trying to get at here, his market value will put him around a 7-8M aav. are you trying to argue that he's not an elite player?

No, I'm commenting on "If he's only asking for...", why would someone who is elite "only" ask for something. It makes it seem he could get more in the way you worded it.
