TDL Hawks to continue rebuild

Created by: ChiHawk
Team: 2021-22 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 19, 2021
Published: Oct. 19, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
That Jones contract is going to hurt in the future but let's play it out for a year or two and reevaluate then.
Trades
1.
CHI
  1. Holloway, Dylan
  2. Kassian, Zack
  3. 2022 2nd round pick (EDM)
  4. 2023 3rd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Oilers time is now to make a run. Toews brings leadership to the team, one of the best captains in the league. Also allows for more flexibility with LD to move up the lineup to play alongside CM or Toews anchors the 3rd line. De Haan replaces Koekko on the 3rd line. Kassian is a cap dump to the Hawks.
EDM
  1. De Haan, Calvin ($2,250,000 retained)
  2. Toews, Jonathan ($4,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Obviously Toews probably doesn't waive and Chicago probably won't trade their captain. Nonetheless, seeing Toews waste his final years with such a bad team and the friction between the coach and he in the past, makes you wonder.
2.
CHI
  1. 2022 1st round pick (TOR)
TOR
  1. Carpenter, Ryan
  2. Fleury, Marc-André ($3,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Fleury is obvious to make a run at the cup, Carps bring solid defense and PK ability to the 4th line.
3.
CHI
ANA
  1. Johnson, Tyler
  2. Kalynuk, Wyatt
  3. Nylander, Alexander
Additional Details:
Cost to move Johnson; even add a 3rd round pick if necessary.

I’d be much much more interested in fleury for oilers that is depending on how kosk is performing which we are yet to see.

Edmonton has about a third to half of the cap space necessary to facilitate that trade.

Personally, I'm completely disinterested in Holloway to the Hawks.

Where is TOR getting the cap room? They can't even actually afford to have a backup.

Chicago can take back some cap or they can make an additive move. Hawks would probably love to have Reilly given that he's going to free agency but would imagine he's more important then an upgrade in goal for Toronto.

Can't retain on 4 guys, but I know you know that anyways so idk why I even mentioned it.

I would also add that I think IF Toews gets traded so does Kane. Neighter will be traded, i'm justing saying if one domino falls so does the other

Not so sure about both getting traded. Kane is very tied to Chicago and the organization behind the scenes including saying at one point he wants to work for the Blackhawks longterm. Toews on the other hand spends his offseason back home plus last season on injured reserve, has had some conflict with the coach and organizational direction, etc. I don't think the Hawks would ever trade kane, but Toews I could see and think it's 50/50 whether Toews will agree.

soup is. mrazek is when healthy. they aren't rasks or prices but receptible 1 A 1B goalies. they dont need Fleury, they can allocate that money to another RHD or LW they dont need a goalie

Campbell is 4 games into a 82 game season and obviously has injury risk. I love the guy personally, one of the best guys in the league in terms of personality, but injury risk is real with him and he's never proven as a guy that can take on the bulk of season. Mrazek is not a 1A goalie. Although he had a nice 12 games last year, he's spent the last 3 sitting behind one of the league's better defensive teams; Toronto is not one of those teams.

I won't argue that Toronto could use a top 6 LW more or a RHD maybe even more, but a goalie that is going to get them through the playoffs and be able to win a cup is right up there as well.

The point is that after last season people would say 'but can he sustain it' and so far he is. You are just continuing to second guess him when so far there is no reason to.

if they were to get a goalie it would be like what they did with rittich, fleury is too much and they risk losing someone on waivers because of it

And the point is it's only 4 games and that proves nothing especially considering his career, one that has had him only playing 30+ games once and that was 4 seasons ago
