I'd make that deal today for the Isles. They have to address LD sooner rather than later

Definitely agree! Gio to the Isles seems very probable to me.

Gio or Hampus Lindholm to me make the most sense. Is a Leddy reunion at 50% gonna raise cap circumvention issues? Lol

I'm not sure I see SEA looking to trade Gio after giving him the C honestly. Why would they give him the C just to trade him a few months later? Just seems odd and not a good look for a brand new franchise. It obviously makes sense to trade him, but they've complicated things now by giving him the C.

Isles are better off doing what normal organizations do, rotating their young guys (aho/Salo) and trying to make that work before trading significant assets for a defenseman. The isles have the best D pairing in the NHL, they can afford to insert younger D into the lineup.

Leddy so far has continued his terrible play from the playoffs, he’s just as bad as chara/Greene .

I wouldnt pay that for gio. Especially before we see if aho or salo can handle the job. I know barry doesnt like aho but he said he wants to get him into some games. And salo looks like the real deal. I wouldnt move the 1st before we see if he can take that spot.

That's fine, but it needs to be a short leash. Cannot afford to waste games in a Cup or bust year. That 1st round pick will very much be in play and I'd move it in the right trade today

I wouldnt. We dont have anyone in the pipeline. This team is really good as it is and is a legit cup contender. Right now is the big decision, will we be a cup contender for the next 5 years or will we have a really good chance for a cup this year but guarantee a rebuild in 3 years. Lou has kept cap flexibility and one of the best ways of doing that has been elcs. Its not as if we need a great player, we just need someone thats not so slow and has ok puck skills.
I also wouldnt make any trades until we see how we play at home. Over the last couple of years the isles are one of the best home teams and i wouldnt want to overreact to a 13 game road trip.

I'm sorry but I could not disagree more. We are so close to a Cup you have to do everything within your power to reach the summit. If all goes well that pick will be 28 or later anyways. It's a crapshoot at that point. That kid doesn't see an NHL roster for at least a few years. I do like our current "young" core of Barzal, Beau, Wahlstrom, Dobson, Pulock, Pelech, Sorokin, Salo, Bolduc, Raty etc. That's more than sufficient to build around in the future with the cap space of deals coming off the books. The Nelson/Bailey/Lee/JGP/4th line etc only have so many quality years left. I'm not going to be wondering what if. Just freaking go for it. I'll take 1 Cup now over the potential for a few extra runs down the road
