Hate to see it and I hope Hughes is back soon. Great player, great kid. With that said, that was not a slew foot. It's an unfortunate injury, but coming from someone with allegiance to neither team, that was just a very hard hit with an unfortunate ending. It was not dirty.

Lauzon got his legs underneath Hughes’ legs and he pulled back in Hughes upper body. It’s a classic slew foot. The impact into the boards is not the problem.

I know you're probably fired up, I would be too, but it's your guy, so I don't think you're watching it objectively. I have watched the video multiple times, from multiple angles. He was just driving through the check and skating. There was no kicking or leg sweep and they were already engaged.

Compare that hit to these -

You could definitely argue that it was needlessly violent and unnecessary due to the size difference, especially since he already had him rubbed out and didn't need to drive through, but it was not a slew foot.

From what I saw in the replay at the game, it looked like Lauzon kicked the legs out from under Hughes. I might have to watch I it again but it looked like a slew foot up against the boards

Even Ruff said it was a clean hit. I think it looks like his feet got kicked out because he basically got body slammed by the force and they lifted out from under him. It's unfortunate and I won't argue anyone that wants to debate that the force was excessive and unnecessary, but a slew foot it was not.

Here's a better look at it

Lauzon definitely kicks the left leg of Hughes however I don't think they'll consider it a slewfoot. It's more of Lauzon body slamming Hughes which caused the injury

Yup. It was a slewfoot. Maybe not going to draw league attention, but certainly qualifies under their definitions.

He is the coach, he needs his guys to play on, its what coaches do.
But it was a slewfoot.

Anytime you get your legs under another player, and pull back on the top of that player, it is a slewfoot.
To me, this is the classic definition of slewfoot. This angle confirms it.
Not sure it is worth a suspension or anything, but it is 100% slewfoot.
Hopefully it will be only a few weeks for Hughes.

After watching that angle it doesn’t seem like a slew foot. Maybe a bit too aggressive but moreso an unfortunate outcome to a really heavy hit in the corner
