We have a chance to retain our pick

Created by: Kyle_Davidson
Team: 2021-22 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 19, 2021
Published: Oct. 19, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If the hawks can beat out MTL in the tank, we have a 25.7% chance for the 1st overall pick and a 18.7% chance for the second overall pick. After that CBJ has the rights to our pick if it’s 3rd overall and worse! Tanking is certainly an option, IMO it is preferred to finishing 10th in the league and having a non-zero chance to retain our pick. I have seen enough in these first four games to make me lose interest in the team this year. Back when we were unofficially and officially rebuilding the team… while occasionally bad… was fun and interesting to watch. Part of it might have been a lack of expectations, part of it was definitely watching the young guys learn and develop along with the established stars. I don’t know how to explain it but this team just doesn’t feel fun, and all of the off-season additions so far have flopped.

Forgot to mention, it seems like we have nothing special in the prospect pipeline either, after Reichel and MAYBE C Dach who looks like they have NHL tools in the system?

Probably Barratt and Commesso. I truly believe this is a playoff caliber team, it's just an awful system.

Commesso is a good prospect. Barratt is pushing it.

Comesso is solid and gonna get better & better. But yeah, as much as I like Evan Barratt, he'd have to show a LOT more to get put into the "nice shiny things" cupboard with Reichel.

Agreed on Barrett being borderline. Commesso needs a great deal more time. I’m not sure about claims of this a playoff team though. Based on how Kane has continued to defend Colliton, I feel like the whole team has completely given up and now have a losers mentality.

This may be unpopular, but the losing mentality may not be from JC if it exists in the first place. I remember when Coach Q was still around the team had trouble starting and ending on time. Not saying JC doesn’t deserve criticism, but wondering about why some things have remained consistent across coaches, teams, systems and ETC. In any case this team needs to turn it around soon. Unlike Q’s late rosters, this one should have enough talent to turn it around.

That's what happens when Bowman continues to mortgage the future for "win now" which has never worked on his watch; Tallon built the cup teams as we know.

The pipeline does look pretty thin in that regards but I'm hoping to see more of people such as Vlasic and slaggert.

Isles say yes, would love to bring deHaan back. Chicago would probably need to either retain salary or take Hickey/Komarov.

As long as the contract has 1 year left they are fine. Otherwise, you would need to up the return.

Each of them only have a year left and both have cleared waivers and are buried in the minors.
