Montreal rejects, that's too much for Kadri and he's not what we need, we need a defense that can play defense and chemistry

he's better than dvorak who doesn't seem to be working out. seems like a fair price with the extension. center is a huge need, habs top 3 centers have 1 point combined. you are right about habs needing a defender but unless you're looking for macdermid avs have no one to offer.

Kadri is not better than Dvorak, Dvorak-Drouin-Anderson has been our best line, we don't need centers with Suzuki, Dvorak, Evans, Poehling, Brooks, Paquette were fine, we definitely wouldn't extend Kadri.

yes he's better than dvorak. he adds some grit to a soft lineup too. he's the exact type of center the habs need. adding kadri bumps the centers into more appropriate places. suzuki - kadri - dvorak - evans.

He's better than Dvorak, but the trade also doesn't make sense for the Habs, who, unless my math is wayyyyy off, can't afford him, or to extend him either.

It’s just unrealistic Habs would give up their first rounder next year for Kadri. It would make more sense to take a stab at him as a UFA but he may be out of their price range.

I'd say we need defense that can make plays that don't involve trading themselves one-for-one with an opposing forward.
Chiarot, Savard, and Romanov, all play defense by taking themselves out of the play to tie up one forward. Petry and Kulak do as well (part of the strategy) but they can also use their sticks to play the puck before or after, instead of defaulting to getting tangled up and staying there.
Wideman probably can move the puck, but he's being told to pin the man and he simply doesn't have the size or strength to do it.

Changing the strategy to focus more on the puck than the body will help, but we still have personnel that aren't great at the puck part of the equation.

Ya I think if things continue in the direction they are going they will panic and make a move but I wonder if ownership would allow him to make a move like that with the 1st round pick if he is not coming back.

Sabres would obviously love Girard but he's a LD and ...not a need at all.
