I can’t foresee any situation Edmonton even considers Bouchard anywhere near trade talk.

I agree but they traded Bear for nothing so they could be dumb here too. and I'm sure they don't wanna wait any longer for McDavid. they gotta win now

No it wouldn’t. Weegar is really good but bouch is a perfect fit for Edmonton.

Considering bear didn’t exactly have a strong season last year I think Holland did very well with that trade.

I don't know about value, but that Kucherov trade makes no sense for the Wild: why give up that many assets for a position you don't need?

Canucks decline. Probably not worth it for an aging Stamkos. We also can’t afford that cap hit

the Oilers biggest problem last year was secondary scoring and the they went out and got some with Foegele (and Hyman and Ryan), the Oilers 3rd line of Foegele, Ryan, Kassian has played great so far best 3rd line the Oilers have had in years, they had 3pts just last night 2 goals from Kassian and an assist from Foegele.

Contrary to your line of thinking, I think that Bear was in a very similar position to Foegele because of Evan Bouchard's development. Based on past comments made by Ken Holland, Dave Tippett, and Jim Playfair, we know the Oilers were committed to having Bouchard in the lineup this year and were concerned with the prospect of going into this season with too much inexperience on the team's blue line. Bear has less than two full season's of experience and he regressed last year. In comparison to him, Bouchard has better draft pedigree, is a physically bigger man, is a better skater, possesses a far superior shot and better playmaking ability, has vastly greater potential, and already looks like a better NHL defenseman. IMO, that is why Bear was deemed expendable in Edmonton.

I'd like to see this trade work out for both teams because I like both players involved. Bear has good potential, and I hope he does very well in Carolina because Foegele has been a positive revelation in Edmonton.

Yeah I don't think that a player that can score goals like that is nothing, (I am talking about Foegele's first as a Oiler if you haven't seen it)

We're only a handful of games into the season but so far Foegele has been a great addition. He's a critical piece of an effective 3rd line, something the Oilers haven't had in years. Bouchard looked solid against Vegas, playing top pair minutes with Nurse. Ceci has looked better than his detractors predicted, and there have been no surprises with Barrie. Carolina is rolling along well, so it looks like the trade has worked out for both teams and both players.
