Does Montreal need a centre more or a RD? I truly think they’re more in need of a #1 RD

That is one gross underpayment for Byram. Looking at Montreal's roster, they just don't have the assets to trade for him. Probably get ripped apart by Habs fans for suggesting Caufield and a 1st is probably where the conversation starts but Colorado probably still sticks with Byram.

I mean right now Petry is a better player than Suzuki. Although in the future RHD is absolutely our biggest need, and it isn’t close.

just because the avs have an abundance of very talented young Dmen does not mean they are just going to give them away. Seriously, Caufield +. You are asking a playoff contender to give up long term futures and present nhl quality talent in Byram for rentals and a 2nd. That is a joke. You have to give up at least the same.

Avs a contender and getting a 30G affordable Toffoli worth a lot... and Avs as no place for him especially that he will ask for $$$.
Chiarot could be a good addition for a long playoff run...a good 2nd +/- No40 in a depth year

He would ask for 7M long term deal next summer & you have McKinnon to sign shortly...
Getting Toffoli @ 4M & 40th pick + Depth D... and a Stanley Cup worth a lot

dude not even remotely close to his value. Avs are not trading a 1st pairing for the next Decade in Byram for a bunch of odds and ends.

Byram could easily be a top pairing quality dman on an ELC for the next 2 years. Those type of D come along less often than forwards. Colorado is likely to ride him for 2 more years and if they can't afford him out of his ELC he will get a kings ransom. A lot more than depth pieces and a 2nd. If Colorado made Byram available, there would be an all out bidding war and his price would surely be higher than Toffoli-Chiarot-2nd. The phone doesn't even get picked up without Caufield's name.
