I know Zucker isn't preferred, but this is worse.

I think Skinner and Zucker are pretty similar. Skinner is making 9 mil which is the only downside, and that goes for Zucker too. ZAR hasnt really done much and Thompson is younger and brings a little more grit

Also, Skinner plays for BUF so him not getting points is because of it

I was thinking in more in terms of how much longer Skinner's deal goes. I guess that isnt a major concern with a lot of dollars coming off PIT's book.

?????? Tage has 9 points in his last 17 games under Granato, and has seen a big jump in his responsibilities this year, the Sabres pass on this easy

Maybe, It could be an issue but we have a lot of extra cap space

Skinner seems to play well when the team does well. His contract sucks but retaining this much already makes it not worthwhile. Zucker has slowly been regressing since his 30-goal season. ZAR is pretty redundant for Buffalo as well and Thompson looks like he's putting it all together.

Safe to say Buffalo doesn't consider this deal.

This is a terrible deal for Buffalo bc they arent gaining anything here. The biggest issue with Skinner is his cap hit.... By retaining 4m makes Skinner a 5m player and turns Zucker into a 9.5m player. The only way this deal sucks for Pittsburgh is if its a 1 or 1 but they are basically getting a similar player saving 500k while giving Buffalo a similar player and zero cap relief. Some please explain how this deal is bad / worse for Pittsburgh than it is for Buffalo?

Buffalo tells you to kick rocks. They don’t get anything in this deal. Thompson is playing exceptionally well right now, and the team is playing well for each other at the moment. There’s no incentive to do anything like this. Pittsburgh will have to retain money on Zucker to get someone to take him as is. Buffalo is not biting on this.

zar is one of the best defensive forwards in the game and zucker hasn't been a negative player thus far. and i don't see buffalo retaining 4M on skinner for 6 more years so this just doesn't happen

ZAR is a 27 year old 4th line winger ... yeah hes extremely good at defense but is underwhelming at offense. Zucker "hasn't been a negative player thus far" like literally? he was a -8 last year... figuratively 47.64 xgf% and has completely underachieved considering what was given up to obtain him.
