I think the 2nd rounder is too much. I feel like that needs to be downgraded to like a 4th?

The fact that this is where I'm focusing means this is a good proposal

Agreed. I could see it as a 3rd, or some sort of conditional pick, but the basis around it isn't a bad idea.

Something interesting though-The only 2 Russians to play for the Hawks in the since 17/18 are Anisimov (USSR, traded away in 19), and Zadorov (played 2020 only). I wonder if it's just coincidence, or preference when it comes to roster building? I only looked because in Anaheim, Bob Murray has been notorious for avoiding Russian players.

Hawks have a couple russians in the prospect pool but they have been burned before by the KHL and tend to avoid these players. Interesting take...

For sure! I just find it super interesting in the Ducks case, Artem Galimov (2020) was the only Russian that I can remember the team drafting since Igor Bobkov in 2009. Prior to that, it was Stanislav Chistov in 2001, which was a Pierre Gauthier pick. It's wild to me to think that you'd burn mid-late round picks on USNDTP/US Highschool players with "meh" ceilings, when you've got the opportunity for a boom/bust pick from elsewhere. Maybe every one of those guys was the scouting staff's consensus pick, but it's crazy (to me) that that'd be the case.
