ok now you have zero chance of resigning Hertl so you might as well trade him for what you can. while your at it you will never resign Ferraro or Dahlin or Eklund so go ahead and add them too.
and were right back to no depth no structure just a handful of injury prone high dollar long term contracts.

Eichel to san jose make no sense.

Why not just include him in the Trade?

On paper that is a solid return and sharks should be into it with the contracts they currently have, however, doesn't give them room to give new contracts out over the next few years, unless burns or Vlasic retires.

Really though I would think that Kane having been in Buffalo before they don't want that toxic person in the locker room around young players. Doubt Buffalo will do that.

No way the sabres touch that. How has san jose not managed to terminate his contract for cause?

The thought process I'm thinking here is that Kane of course will block a trade to BUF because of his limited-NTC but he can't block SJ placing him on waivers and a team picking him up.

Also, BUF picking him up in this scenario isn't to play him, but to stay above the cap floor and just pay him to sit at home.

It's not as impossible as you'd think. If Vlasic and Burns stay/don't retire, SJ has options. They could simply trade out Meier, Labanc+Simek, or Simek+Bonino+Reimer (the most ideal and certainly very possible) to resign all of Hertl, Ferraro, and the other pending RFAs.

Waaaay too much for Eichel at this stage. Buffalo has held on to him for too long.

Cheech, I like your posts but this one just isn't it. Eichel is a terrible idea in so many ways.

How much did you think hertl was gonna resign for? Eichel is 3 million per year better than him easily and is 3 years younger. Have you learned NOTHING from these insane contracts you've handed out to 28-29 year olds?

Buffalo declines, we want Kane no where near our youngsters and SJ would have to trade us Eklund to even bother listening. We need a high end center prospect not a bunch of random 1sts who are unlikely to join our team until 2024/5

Eichel has not made Buffalo any better than a basement dweller, why would he make SJ that much better than Hertl already does?
Hertl at 8M a year on a short term deal (he wants to do 3-4 year deals so he has options if the team doesn't win)
plus a player making 3-4 mil like kerfoot or Ferraro is clearly better than just Eichel. mainly cause you never know how Eichel will recover from the neck surgery and any team taking him on runs that risk.

I presume with the picks being top 3 protected they could move all the way to 2025 and 2026?
IDK if Kane was a problem in Buffalo, only that the Sabres did not do well with him.
He does seem to be embroiled in controversy his entire career.
Do you know the conditions of him M-NTC?
Would selecting off of waivers be the same as trade?
What if another team selected him before the Sabres, are the balance of the conditions still valid.

BTW Tim Murray gave up a boat load for him.
Then with Buffalo his value dropped to a first, fourth and O'Regan.

Buffalo would be crazy to say no to this trade.
Two decent prospects, three first picks and Evander Kane.
