Why is Kadri taking so little to come back? Think he’d easily get $5 mil on the market.

You put the picks on the other side, and Washington still doesn't do that.

Caps don't have the cap space for Mitch Marner, And a lot of insiders have suggested that one of Marner or Nylander are definitely gone if the Leafs don't win it all next summer or even get out of the 1st round.

Nope, some do but those people are rather dense. There are many non leaf fans posting as leaf fans who do this sort of crap every day. Like the Islander fans who posted this.

Those same insiders have speculated on this topic since Nylander needed a contract. Why? Because 25% of Leaf fans don't like Nylander and Marner because 100% of all other fans want to see the leafs fail and **** post them all the time. The reality is, someone could be moved if they fail again but only if it's a situation where health wasn't a factor. Let's say Matthew's, Marner and Rielly all miss the playoffs and they lose in the first round. However if they are healthy and lose again then changes may be made.

Idk what picks if any go which way here but 1-1 I’d rather Wilson big skilled true power forwards are sooo darn rare. Yes marner is a rare kind of skilled winger but it’s easier to find a skilled winger to play high end minutes over finding an effective power forward able to play those same minutes.

Thanks. I don't mean to argue or insult. Marner is every bit as good defensively as Wilson and much better offensively than Wilson ever was or will be, but if the Caps wanted a skill guy or a puck possession guy at 1RW, they'd have stuck with Semin, Burakovsky, Stephenson, or Vrana, there. They want a tough guy who can retrieve the puck from the corner, tap in rebounds, and fight anyone who steps to Ovechkin. So far that's been Mike Knuble, Troy Brouwer, TJ Oshie, and now increasingly Tom Wilson. It doesn't sound like Marner.

That trade next summer also leaves them with no cap space to give any raises beyond QO to Samsonov, Vanecek, Sprong, or Cholowki, even after Schultz and Kempny leave in UFA. If they lose Sprong and Samsonov because of Marner's cap hit, they don't have a lot of younger, better options ready to replace them, so even if Tor threw in a 1st and a 2nd, that would barely pay for the damage Marner's cap hit would cause to the Caps' delicate salary cap puzzle, even if they did want Marner over Wilson, for some reason that's not apparent to me.

We have seen hundreds, thousands of Eichel trades.....most of them are rejected. Marner is the same type of trade.
What teams can take on a 11m cap? Few. And if such a team had cap, that might be better to sign a UFA, and not trade any cheap assets to the Leafs
Then if the Leafs trade Marner, and take back close to 11m in cap, are either of the teams better off?
Yesterday I posted a "trade" scenario, where the Seattle selected 11m Marner in the expansion draft. Leafs didn't sign 2.5m Ritchie, and the Leafs signed Taylor Hall and Zack Hyman for a total 12.5m
Would the Leafs be better?

Wouldn't pay a first and a second for Wilson, let alone adding Marner.

Folk aren't thinking. It's Wilson and 5m in cap space. Gee the Leafs might want to do that trade even without picks included.

I dont see that trade working for Washington even if you take away the picks.

Tom wilson may not have Marner's skill but he has the physical talent that mitch will never have.

Theres also the fact that if Washington gets marner they have to dump just shy of 6 million in cap to fit him. So your not losing Wilson for Marner you are actually losing Wilson + atleast one of your core players with no material replacement.

Marner is a good player but is going to be difficult to trade as teams are not keen on spending 11 million in cap on 1 winger who isnt even a elite goal scorer. Thats high end franchise center/Dman money.

Wilson + another 6 mill player would give the Leafs so much depth
