It is the year 2022 and the proposed solution to fixing the Leafs is still trading away Nylander I see. At least it's not for John Manson or Brett Pesce so that's nice

Look at the comment above this, maybe never?

To me, I;d rather have Tkachuk. However, Marner is the better offensive force. To me the difference in Marner and Tkachuk is negligible, because the 2mil in cap space you MIGHT get goes along ways toaddressing other issues. Right now, IMO, the leafs aren;t a team, they are like 7-8 players surrounded by just average/below average guys. I want a deeper, more physical TEAM, not just 4 forwards.

Nylander for Koneckny and Laughton is a win IMO, Marner for Tkachuk is debateable according to whomever youre a fan of, but to me, its Marner for Tkachuk and a steady/physical vet on defense like Chariot.

I agree, but Tavares AND Matthews are almost unmoveable. To me Nylander, who's the lowest paid, is the easiest moveable.

Youre never going to get a nylander for a nhylander or a marner for a marner, but you can address multiple issues and fix weaknesses and make the TEAM better by accepting multiple pieces or ((based on your opinion) accepting "less".

Maybe but its the common word to show what Toronto gave up good assets for in the deadline last year. Call it leadership, physicality, two-=way play, whatever but ultimately those are all traits Toronto seems to lack

I'm amazed that that when the Leafs do poorly in the playoffs it's due to "Call it leadership, physicality, two-=way play, whatever but ultimately those are all traits Toronto seems to lack[/quote]". but then the solution seems to be trade player for players from teams who miss the playoffs more often than not. By that logic, those players have less grit.

There's also a 100% chance that Tkachuk would get a yearly Kadri-esque suspension every post season if he were in Toronto

Just by the trade suggested....and I'm not really opposed to it. It's one year of Tkachuk who signs a QO for three years of Marner. At least the Leafs who have cap space when both Tkachuk and Marner aren't Leafs in the summer of 2023.

The Marner for Tkachuk trade is palatable but I honestly think come playoff time he would be gone by game 2 at the latest.

I vehemently oppose the Nylander trade cause at this point I've spent years defending him and his contract and wouldn't move him for anything less than a superstar. I really like Konecny (I know he's currently on pace for 82 goals!!!!) and at the time was hopeful Toronto would have used that pick on him (or Aho!) in 2015 instead of the Bracco & Dermott trade back but he isn't Nylander and we gotta let that failed pick go like so many other missed picks (Gibson still haunts me).

Thats a pretty easy no from Calgary, dont need another perimeter winger that goes AWOL in the playoffs
