Description
Is this totally dumb? Lol just kind of a fun thought here, not sure if it'd be worth the risk breaking up the band when we're winning.
The value right? Buffalo can flip Schenn and Krug at or before the deadline if they want or just play them if theyre trying to compete now. Feel like outside of giving up the picks, this sets us up to have a REALLY good young core for many years and the money to keep them around. I'm approaching Tkachuk trade as though they know he's holding out for free agency and that other teams wouldn't be as comfortable as the blues to give up much more because he'd totally sign here long term at 7,500,000. Giving up too much or too little in either trade?

Mmmk not sure you'll get much more than that without him agreeing to sign for some decent term, which might not be a thing at all. What would have to be added so St.louis doesn't have to wait until he hits free agency lol.

I agree and it might even be an overpay on St. Louis behalf.

Tarasenko just makes an easy swap for cap reasons. They get him for 2 years to play on right side. or can trade him to teams that are/will be interested. You get Bolduc who is a great prospect that will be a top 6 player and Kostin who's finally developed into what he was advertised as and can play up and down the line up. You also get a 1st in a super deep draft class. I think Vladi is back to form and im only moving him here because I think it addresses a need and sets our line up long term.

P.s. I think Scotty P is ready and the only reason he didn't make the team was because we couldn't have two midget defenseman on ice at the same time lol.

Pretty sure their no trades don't kick in for another couple years. And thought this worked just because it seems like 4 1st value and keeps from there needing to be retention which is apparently a non starter. They can play well until they trade and have the 2 guaranteed 1st. I could maybe throw in some later round picks and make the 1st conditional or something. What's buffalo's cap situation?

They’d want young guys back not 2 30 year olds but idk how they make up the reamaining cap

Yeah I get that lol. My biggest contention with this whole thread is that I REALLY like the team as is. But next year and the year after... idk lol

Even if they wanted to, they’d still decline for cap reasons. I don’t think they’d accept the trade regardless since we don’t want to trade Tkachuk, but still.

I’m sure an extra 1 mil isn’t a problem to find so I don’t see cap reasons

Bolduc still has a year of Juniors, Kostin can still be sent down to the AHL without waivers if they didn't want to open a slot in the line up. Vladis only 500,000 K more than Tkachuk which if cap is that tight in Calgary St.louis could retain it here simply as a good gesture lol

If Calgary is out of it they should take this and run. Problem St. Louis might have is that if Calgary is out of it they go take a swing at Eichel as well with pieces from the package that the Blues just sent them. Especially with Tkachuk's cap off the books.

I don't see that as a problem personally. I still have concerns about Eichel and our center depth is so great as is. It's that left wing spot I'm wanting to fill with more proven talent and shift Kyrou back to the right side where he belongs.

Yes, it's a dumb idea. The Blues are not mortgaging so much young talent capital, both teams decline anyway and in no way, shape or form is Eichel even needed.

This thread is more about wants than need clearly lol because the team is already stacked. But you can't look at this line up and think "oh that's dumb" and those picks and youth traded away nobody will even notice its gone because your top 6 is set for atleast like 6 years. They may decline this but idk, dont think it'd take much more if at all. The question of it being dumb was more in regard to the trade value being right and whether it's a good idea to break up the current roster a bit while they're winning.

Well you're dumb hahahah. "Muhh draft capital" "muhh, no the team has no use for an Eichel" (understand the risk involved as noted above) "both teams decline but I can't specify why or suggest what it would take instead" you come off as a real sour puss on every thread I see you in and offer pretty much nothing constructive to work with. Even though I do agree with you more often than not lol. Good day sir.

We just don't need the Krug. The deal should probably be more about prospects and choices.

So I never offer anything constructive, but you generally agree with me. Gotcha.

Look... if you don;t want to know it's a bad idea, don't ask everyone if it's a bad idea when you have a bad idea.

Then I highly suggest St. Louis keeps their own players here because that package is not enticing enough to move Tkachuk for me either

I said good day...
But seriously, I get it's probably not worth it. I like the roster as constructed. Hopefully defensively things get a little cleaner. I'm not as high on an Eichel trade, but would love to add Tkachuk to play with Thomas and Kyrou in the future though. Line would be alot of fun to watch. Apologies, just feel your bluntness and way of dismissing things as dumb can come off a tad rude.
