Deadline very unrealistic

Created by: Timmah007
Team: 2021-22 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 20, 2021
Published: Oct. 22, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Didn’t really worry about values or anything because both trades are just very unrealistic to begin with. Kane I know has a ton of issues and is widely hated but if can get him at 50% retained money I’d really consider it depending on what sharks would want. Add a guy capable of 30 goals for 3.5 is a steal but yes the off ice stuff plays a factor.
I miss larsson and would love to have him back but I choose him instead of a more realistic option because was including Barrie in the trade and I know how polarizing he is around here and didn’t feel like having to defend the guy that lead all d in points kinda seems foolish knowing would have to.
Since this was a unrealistic post I was going to target and add a goalie however I’m really not sure who’s available that’s better kosk has looked good and especially when it comes to goalies I prefer to stick with the guys I know rather than gamble on a guy who I think might be slightly better.

He isn't vaxxed. His suspension is for fake vaccination papers

He’s got 21 games off go get that taken care of. Haha.
He doesn’t really have a choice in that considering he can’t afford to be suspended by the team he’s got some gambling debts to pay off.

He only doesn't get paid for game days in Canada if he does not get vaxxed. It's certainly not a guarantee that he does.

He already lost 1.3 million because of suspension and has borrowed against his contract if he’s unwilling to get the shot he’s really going to screw himself

Does anyone know if Evan Bouchard is a rookie?

I thought he was, but I don’t see him on the rookie scoring leaders on NHL.com

He is vaxxed, his suspension was for backdating his vax card.

I’m not sure what the games played limit is but assuming he got into just enough last year to make him a non rookie this year. I don’t really keep up with those rules since it’s been made VERY clear Edmonton can’t have a Calder winner.

He is not a rookie. There are 2 criteria for GP to lose eligibility... 25 total or 6 or more in multiple seasons. He got into 7 right after he was drafted before being sent back to juniors (got to love the old oilers development plan) and then got into another 14 last year so even though he hit 25 he's still ineligible because of hitting 6 games twice.

Except we would do this for just Yamamoto. It solves so many problems for us.

Nah, just wait until SJ terminates Kane's contract then sign him for cheap. And Larsson isn't coming back.

I know but the other thoughts I had for a steady guy involve having to include Barrie and you know as well as I do on this site purposing any trade involving him is just asking for a foolish debate I just wasn’t in the mood for. From what I heard the league or cba won’t allow San Jose to terminate Kane’s contract so could wait and see if gets bought out then sign but that’s debatable if they will and I was looking to have him in for this playoff

Thanks for clarifying. Sadly even if he was considered a rookie he has zero chance at the Calder. Nothing at all to do with Bouchard I just don’t think the voting can go in Edmonton’s favour. Nuge and mcdavid both got snubbed

The Oilers just can't win a Calder. McDavid in most years probably still would've had a shot with his injury but Panarin had an unreal year. I just found it ironic that McDavid lost to a guy with like 5 years of pro hockey experience in the KHL whereas Gretzky was deemed ineligible at 19 because he had 1 pro year in the WHA.

The one who was really robbed was Nuge. Nothing against Landeskog but they had similar production with Nuge playing 20 less games.

Not that he should've won but I believe Yak was the first rookie scoring leader in like 50 or 60 years to not even get nominated as a finalist.

I get that panarin had an unreal year and I don’t mean to downplay what he did at all.
Mcdavid broke his collar bone suffered a significant injury that would have sidelined most players for the full year but he returned and finished just over point per game that’s unbelievable. Panarin had 30 goals and 77 points in 80 games just under point per game. Very impressive not downplaying but I do firmly believe returning from that injury in the same year should have been factored in and panarin has been playing against men at a high level for awhile mcdavid came straight from playing with kids to dominating against men. To me it was a no brainer and that’s with the upmost respect to panarin.
