Unless those guys are ready to make meaningful nhl impacts, the wrong type of young assets avs should target if they ever did decide to move girard,

Girard helps them push for a cup, waiting on youth doesn’t

Samuelsson will be able to play immediately, hed be playing now but he got hurt in preseason. He was the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 draft, good pedigree. Possibly Quinn too, we shall see how this season goes, but he has played in AHL since he was drafted 8th overall in 2020 due to covid shutting down OHL etc.

You guys only have 13 of 23 players under contract for next year, a lot of moving parts and have to pay mackinnon after next year too.

moving girard isnt out of the question in the end, but they still need to compete for the cup. Planning to pay mackinnon is pointless if they take a step back trading girard and getting worse on paper. If avs are getting worse, why does he want to stay.

I don't think Girard is what we need. He is more of an offensive D than a defensive one. He's also not that good on the right. Dahlin needs a different kind of partner. And in general, why should we trade our young players and prospects? Bryson looks great, it doesn't make any sense.

its a hypothetical scenario. You have a ton of UFAs who will need to be paid or replaced, including your top 3 goalies, Kadri, Nishushkin, burakovsky, getting very good value for girard to plug those other holes makes sense and trading him for ready or about ready good assets is better than trading for picks, because as you said you want to compete.

maybe its a no, but its a plausible trade, which is better than 80% of the stuff on here.

he is just fine on the right and he is the perfect partner for dahlin.

girard is barely older than samuelsson or bryson

its plausible, im not deadest against it, but just in a vaccum wihtout the context of the other moving parts its hard to say yes to out right. If there are other moves in play that offset the Girard move for guys you have to wait for on....and in the battle with Barron, Helleson and Newhook, Ranta, Olausson in terms of prospects.

a sign of a good trade idea is a back and forth discourse and you achieved that,

We will develop our prospects, and not trade for Girard, I don’t see that. He's still not the best partner for Dahlin, I don't know where you got the idea that he would be good with a player like Dahlin who needs freedom and a puck.

In what reality would Buffalo want to do that Colorado trade?????? How does that even help them? Why are they adding Quinn to that? Girard is not that good. They need Quinn infinitely more than the minute improvement Girard provides

Hes not, a future top 6 forward to move from Samuelsson to Girard, good. I also should have Italicized that. Girard is not that good. As I said they need Quinn infinitely more and Samuelsson isnt a scrub himself

and I asked, how he is he "not that good" What is your rationale behind these statements.

This isnt about the prospects in Samuelsson and Quinn. You have been bashing Girard in any buffalo trade, now i am curious what is your reasoning behind it. If hes "not that good" then you have some issues with him and his game, what are they. Im just curious thats all, this isnt an attack, I am generally curious

I'm just yanking your chain.

For this acgm, my opinion as an Avs fan is this would be a no. I like the prospects fine but wouldn't trade Girard unless it's a win now move.

I dont think I've said anything about Girard other than we dont need more LD. Im not saying hes a bad player, Im saying hes not worth a top 6 forward to upgrade Samuelsson to Girard. Samuelsson will, shortly, be a pretty good dman as well and still has potential to be just as good as Girard himself. Thats like trading Girard and Newhook for Dahlin

I know we are all high on the young top prospects for our teams, no different than Newhook for the avs, but just as newhook, to say quinn is a top 6 foward is just premature, we dont know yet. We want them to be top 6 fwds but that could be years down the line if ever.

Samuelsson could be good, but he has only a small sample size in the NHL, that is the same as Avs fans saying Kaut will be a top 6 fwd bc he showed well in his 9 game call up originally. cant bank on that yet either. Buying into the potential of the prospects is justifiable but you cant know 100% they will pan out. I believe in the hype too but not every teams prosept turns out to be an NHLer. ....Girard is a sure fire Top 4 Dmen. You get the best player in teh deal today and potentially long term

Look at the ROR trade, Compher Grigs, Zads, and a 2nd back then, that was a lot of young promising pieces. Well compher and zads turned out to be NHLers but not nearly their potential
