As a fellow Canucks fan, I frankly must concur big time

This is a severe understatement

Canucks save cap space, get a very highly touted D-prospect, a decent right handed vet, a solid centre that could be flipped at the deadline, and a first for a player that has never played a full season, and has never put up 80 points. Byram alone has more points than Petterson this year.

I don't see how it is awful.

Petterson is by far the better player, points dont tell the whole story. Sure they get a good prospect but that does not come close to the value for petterson even with a 3rd liner thrown in there

I don't think you would find anyone else around the league paying much more for Petterson.

A+ level prospect, 1st, 2B centre, and roster RHD is a pretty solid package.

I mean you're probably right. I don't think the Avs want Eichel.

If it was a sure thing he could be back this year I do think Eichel makes the Avs MUCH better though. Byram isn't going to pass Toews/Girard on the LD chart whereas Eichel will slot right in and provide very effective secondary scoring.

If the Avs want to win this year, moving Byram for someone (maybe not Eichel) makes sense imo

Funny Byram is teamed with Cale and already the 2nd best defenseman on the team... crazy how fast he has taken over.
