        These moves put SEA up against the cap, but the team is much better.

        Simek goes to NYI, giving them a much better LD than Chara.
        Stecher goes to MTL to put a bandage on the hole that Weber left.

        They're definetly better but they also should have rebuilt rather than throw money at Schwartz, Grubauer, Wennberg, etc none of whom are difference makers

        if the islanders wanted Simek, SJ would have already traded him.

        They should have gone the route Buffalo and Arizona are currently going. Draft picks and tanking for like 2 years then have all the assets you could stomach

        I figured that this would've happened well before the preseason started, thereby allowing NYI to sign only one of Chara/Greene.

        They had to sign Greene for expansion draft exposure reasons. So Chara would be homeless
