Everybody can be traded. But I don't think Edmonton has what the price would be. If you ask me, of the big 4 in Toronto, Nylander is the 2nd most important to keep around. He is consistently really good no matter where he is. He works very hard and refuses to give up, regardless of the situation. These are intangibles that can be difficult to come by. Add on that he is on a fantastic contract, and you have a player that has a very high trade value.

From the Oilers, it would cost RNH, Broberg and a 3rd. I don't even think Toronto considers this, though. RNH is similar to what they already have, and doesn't necessarily fill a need. If they wanted to make this trade go through, they would need a player elite at crashing the nets, driving the corner very hard, and gathering any pucks Matthews doesn't score to continue the offensive pressure. I don't think Edmonton has this.

He's an underrated wizard honestly and a cap hit under 7M$ for a good 1st liner is really nice and he'll be 100% in his prime for the duration of his contract

Leafs likely aren't interested in prospects and picks if they move any of their top guys. They'd likely be doing a retool if they moved one of them and not a rebuild so they'd need roster players.

It's likely start at Bouchard + Puljujarvi for Nylander (yes it takes both). Nylander's value is high due to his consistent performance and his contract value which he's massively out performed. He still has room to grow and any team getting him is buying his prime years so it's going to cost a lot to get him out of Toronto. Anyone saying it would cost less is likely just a Leaf hater, but the value of Nylander is sky high right now and a team is gonna overpay to get him or he stays in Toronto

No, I think the leafs would probably be wanting Darnell Nurse in a Nylander trade. Holloway plus does nothing in the now.

I'd consider Nylander for Nurse and let Rielly walk. It does leave a hole in the offense though. What you've proposed might be better cap wise.
